The stones are high quality and will last for years with heavy use. I was able to get a hang of it in a few hours. While their aren't super clear instructions on how to actually sharpen your knives, this was intentional because everyone seems to think they have the best method or form to use whetstones. As long as you keep the stones wet and hold the angle you are trying to, you can get great results. Stones are hard enough for my carbon steel knives but might struggle with some of the supersteel that pocket knives are starting to use more regularly. The stopping compound seems to be working very well (some people seem to think that the green compound is the worst but this one has been corse enough to remove any stubborn flakes of burr and fine enough to polish any remaining scratches or inconsistencies in tbe edge. After learning more and getting a feel for the process, their are only two things I might look for in the future to expand on this kit. A more aggressive Dimond stone to rough cut new primary bevels as it can be a slow process with the 400 grit stone if you need to remove a lot of material for knives that may have never been sharpened and a wooden strop with leather attached with adhesive. The strop from the kit can be difficult to hold on a flat surface.

This allows me to keep our knives sharp and cutting like they should. It took a little practice and patience, but it's well worth the effort. I did find the angle guide awkward to use, though.

Everything I could have wanted in a kit like this. I use it to sharpen blades and chisels for my scale model hobby. They work great. I paired the kit up with a honing jig tool and they work great. No complaints. The strap isn't real leather but still works great when the wax is applied. This kit will probably last me a lifetime. Excellent price too. Ive heard of people getting mold on their whetstones (this can happen to any whetstone regardless of brand) so I add white vinegar to my stone in addition to water when soaking it and it seems to work great at keeping the mold away. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Seriously great quality for the price. The stropping leather is a bit weak but everything else is as solid as you could ask for. Just a little time and you can shave with a pocket knife if you wanted.

I had my best friend, who is a chef, teach me how to use this set and he said that these are excellent. Now that I know how to sharpen knives properly, I have to agree. They are easy to store in a kitchen drawer, too.

The kit is very good for the price... but when it comes to the Leather Strop... there... it's a shame it's a big deception that it's not leather but imitation leather and it doesn't serve to sharpen the knives... I mean the whole kit is good to keep... the Leather Strop is to throw it away with the garbage that is left over when you receive it... if you don't mind buying the kit without the Leather Strop and buying it as an extra apart... or you don't mind not having a Leather Strop or you already have one... perfect buy it... but I think that the company that sells the kit... shouldn't deceive people... better to say that their Leather Strop is not real... well even without that it's worth buying it... but don't let one be left with a bad taste when receiving garbage...
