AcuRite Matte White Digital Wireless Fridge and Freezer Thermometer for Home and Restaurants with Alarm and High/Low Temperature Records (00523M)

Something everyone should have. Accurate and excellent functions. It gives max/min temps daily. Should any problem occur with fan or compressors you might not know as shut down could occur at night. By morning after compressor cools it is working again. I should have had one years ago.

I bought one, and liked it so much that I bought another one. It had saved my refrigerator from compressor failure multiple times. When the refrigerator seal is leaking air, the compressor works harder and the inside temperature decreases. If I did not see the temperature suddenly dropping so much, my refrigerator would probably get an early death. Two of them is in the garage chest freezer and garage fridge. My garage is a separate building 6 feet away from the house. I have to put the monitor next to the closest wall from the garage to get consistent readings. It would be nice to have a little stronger signals between the sensor and the base. But overall I think this device is worth having.

Had a frig that was 5 years old. Milk was going bad faster than usual and frost building up in the freezer. Had a tech come out but of course the frig was fine, temp was fine while he was here. He told me about these temp gauges to keep track to know when it was time to replace the frig. Got them, put them in the frig and freezer, and then watched the temps go way too high. So, replaced the frig not long after we bought these. Have them in the new frig/freezer. Not going to be surprised next time! They are small enough to not notice them inside the appliance. The panel that shows the temps just looks like a thermostat, have it on the side of the frig where I can check whenever. Tells you the min and max temps both have gotten to for the last 24 hours, and the current temp which is the largest numbers in the middle of the screen. The numbers show to the tenth ex 1.4 or 37.8 One side of that box slides down a bit- magnet not strong enough, so I put a small magnet under it and it keeps it straight. Also the pieces come with suction cups, I didn't use them, but smart idea, they have loops on the top of them for the cups. Your frig may tell you the temps it is set at, but that doesn't mean that's what the temps are in the appliance I have learned. I'm guessing we will always use these.

Came very quickly and is good value for the money. Better to use lithium AA batteries due to colder temps in freezer. It will last longer. Readings are good an comparable to my analog thermometers.

Good concept but not accurate. I purchase a pack of 3 digital thermometers when I got this. The others are all within a degree of each other. This reads about 10 degrees off and it changes temps constantly and causes the alarm to go off. Even on a brand new freezer, it wont read temps properly

I've had this in my garage freezer and house fridge for a couple weeks now, and they seem to be reasonably accurate, reading within a degree or two of my mechanical fridge/freezer thermometers. Keep in mind that these are measuring the air temperature, so the readings do fluctuate more than the food temperature. For example the food in my fridge is stable at 35*F, but the thermometer will show about a 10*F fluctuation as the fridge cycles on and off. You will need the lithium batteries for the freezer especially, otherwise you will get a constant low battery alert flashing on the screen since other battery chemistries can't handle the sub 32*F temps. Overall, these seem to be working just fine and I can see that my freezer in the garage is working properly which is my primary concern since I don't get into that freezer more than maybe once a week. The silicone loops make it easy to hang the sensors wherever you want without taking up storage space. I would buy this unit again. The price is reasonable, as is the accuracy for my needs. My only complaint is that it only shows a 24 hour history. It would be nice to have a longer term history, say 30 days or all time min/max, but thats a pretty minor gripe.

I've had two of these for a few years now (originally got one for the kitchen fridge, then bought a second unit for the deep freezer.) The pluses and the minuses are below. First, the minuses: The first thing is that this is supposed to be able to stick to your fridge magnetically. But, they cheaped out on the magnets. The magnets in the back are NOT strong enough to hold this device onto the fridge. The motion of the door makes it fall off, and when not falling off, it is gradually sliding down. We added some heavy-duty magnets between it and the fridge to keep it on there. The second thing to know is that the freezer sensor on the first one I bought went bad, after less than 2 years of use. You can't buy replacement sensors, so I ended up buying a whole new unit. I hope that this is a fluke, and the current units last longer. I will update. The pluses: I have a temperamental refrigerator. It came with the house and it still runs so I would rather use it than replace it. But it's very responsive to changes in barometric pressure. Sudden cloudy or rainy days? The refrigerator temps drop and things freeze. An engineer friend explained it to me once but I don't really understand it, I just live with it. I like having the temperature display on the front of the fridge so that if there's a problem, I can see it right away. I also like that this device has a safety alarm if temps get too low or high. The device works for that. The batteries need replacement every 6 months or so.

I have boughten 2 off these digital wireless temperature monitors in the last 6 years. They have worked perfectly. They can be recalibrated too be used on two freezers. I can monitor the temperature on all the freezers and fridge in my kitchen.

Nice product. Elegant style and works seamlessly. Having a serial number on it would make it professional and could be used for places need calibration and testing and tracing back the device, example usage is medication fridge for hospital and nursing homes. I wish the manufacturer would see this and include a serial number on it. Good product good price!!

Still really assessing!! I have only used one of the two units I purchased. I am using the Acurite as a secondary monitoring system as back up. I am monitoring critical medications at home in my freezer and fridge. I am using lithium batteries in the freezer thermometer and seems to be reasonably accurate most of the time. However, once or twice a day it will warm up significantly compared to my main monitoring system. I had to calibrate the fridge monitor a bit and seems to be ok. Quality and build seems to be nice and better than similar concept temperature monitors that are cheap and nasty. Interested to find out how long batteries will last, as I am hoping not to have to be buying batteries regularly.
