Ultrasonic Retainer Cleaner Machine Sonic Dental Cleaning Machine for Dentures, Aligners, Braces, Mouth Guards, Jewelry, Portable 30W/45kHz (Black)

I have been cleaning my retainers by brushing them with toothpaste and my toothbrush which was leaving my retainers looking foggy over time. I decided to look into different ways of cleaning my retainers and came across the Ultra sonic cleaner. After reading so many positive reviews I decided to try it. I still brushed my retainers as usual and then I placed them into the ultra sonic cleaner to see what would happen if anything. After the ultra Sun if cleaner was finished, I opened the container and the water to my surprise had tiny particles floating around that had been cleaned off of my “clean” retainers! Yukkk! I was very happy to see that after a week or so my retainers started to look more clear. I’m going to try the cleaning pills with this ultra sonic cleaner as recommended next. I highly recommend it so you’re not like me brushing your retainers which is not recommended due to leading to scratches on retainers over time.

Clinic tested reduces biofilm better than manual brushing! The 42kHz frequency is gentle on acrylic but zaps bacteria. Bought 4 for our office. Patients love the “spa for retainers” analogy. Pro tip: Add a drop of mouthwash for minty freshness!

I used this product for approximately 6 months before it failed. And started smoking.Prior to the catastrophic failure, it consistently had problems with the UV light. The UV light is actually two LEDs in the lid of the unit. The lid is not attached to the base, so instead of a wired connection to the LEDs, there are two spring action pins that make contact with two copper pads on the base, completing the circuit.The problem with this configuration is that the pass and pins are exposed to moisture, so they corrode, making it hard to get an electrical contact between the LEDs in the lid and the power source in the base. This is a terrible design.The ultrasonic portion of the unit worked sufficiently well until, over the course of a few days, it grew louder, then started smoking a bit from the vents on the bottom of the unit. I assume the motor failed or was failing.In one of the pictures you can see the smoke marks on the counter.

I recently got aligners for my teeth and I was cleaning them by hand with a toothbrush since they get dirty pretty quickly. But this cleaner has sped up this process so much that I wouldn't want to go back to manually cleaning them again. It's small and fits on my bathroom sink, where it is plugged into the wall. I would recommend it to anyone who has aligners or retainers, since cleaning them will be a part of life going forward. Might as well make it easier!

I’m in love with this! It really works. I could not get my retainers clean looking and I dreaded putting them in. Now I run them through a quick cycle and they’re spotless. Awesome

I use my sonic cleaner with tablet, cleaners, and have Invisalign inserts. I clean my inserts about every 2 to 3 days in the machine. Does a great job with no harm to my inserts. I use distilled water and cleaning tablets and all I do is hit the on button and it sonically cleans my inserts for 180 seconds. I fill it with distilled water and hit the on button when it’s finished I pour out the used water, clean it with tap water . Leave it out overnight to dry and put it away in the morning. It’s so easy I love it.

Gave this 4 stars, as there are 4 main (albeit pretty minor) things that annoy me about the design.1) The inner metal gets very hot when it runs. This also heats the water up. The water doesn't quite get hot enough mess with my 3M aligners unless I run it for the max time.2) Slightly related to #1: It allows you to run it without water. One morning when I was half awake, I forgot to load it with water when cleaning my aligners. This caused my aligners to slightly melt and change shape, which would have been awful if I wasn't on the last scheduled day of those aligners -- I just swapped to the next cycle of aligners a day early, but learned my lesson here. It would be great if the cleaning pod prevented you from running it without water in it.3) The instructions mention to be very careful about getting water in the rear power port. The design makes it easy for water to run down the side and into the port -- this could have easily been avoided by adding a slight bump, ridge, or some other design pattern to divert water away from the port if it were to flow over the top.4) The cleaning pod runs off of electricity from the wall, but you have to charge the UV light topper separately. I would have much preferred to have them attached to each other and have the UV light also run off of wall power, even if that meant the machine had to be slightly bigger.I'm considering getting a (admittedly more expensive) alternative to this machine that addresses all my above concerns. But, for the price, this one works just fine.
