This one must have slipped through quality control
The media could not be loaded. Purchased this to replace my worn out Anchor Mate. After removing it from the package the first thing I realized was there was no mounting hardware at all. This is the time when living in rural country is a pain. So take a trip to town, get the hardware. Holes marked and drilled. Unit bolted down, THEN. as you can see from he picture and video, the internal hardware in the unit was left loose from the factory during manufacturing. I had to remove the unit and tighten what the factory failed to do. The safety chain/cable shown in the picture was not with the unit. I will have to by a safety for it. Once everything was corrected, installed and tested, the unit performed strong and nicely. It lifts and parks the 20lb anchor with ease.

Not Good
Purchased this unit, installed the unit. Had to fish the wires back to the battery. Once I had it all wired, does not work. Have power to the unit going into the module inside, nothing coming out of the control module. Can't go to the manufacture website, the IP has been changed and whoever the administrator is for Trac Outdoors apparently does not look at the emails or website. If you go through Amazon for product support it takes you to Camco.

Anchor NOT knotted! Rolls right off….
We lost the anchor after the first use. Rolled right off the damn spool. It is not knotted or tied to the spool at all!!

Good winch with some precautions.
I put this on my 16 ft. fishing boat. It came with the extra switch for the helm, which was nice. There are some quirks about it that can be remedied if the operator is aware of them. First is safety. The auto deploy is really awesome! One must be aware that at times this winch may auto deploy all on its own (really scary) though. Two things should be done that are usually standard practice on larger vessels anyway. 1. An additional safety kill switch for this winch is a good idea. It will prevent auto deploy mishaps. 2. A pin to secure the anchor when underway. I recommend a ball lock release pin 1/4" diameter by 3.5" grip. It will fit right into the mount. You could also use a line to tie off the anchor as shown in my picture, but the pin would be better for towing. If you go with the pin, get an anchor with 5-6" of shank. This will line up the ring on the anchor with the safety pin holes on the mount. The anchor I have in the picture has too long a shank in my opinion, 6" shank would be better. Also it is a good practice to cleat the anchor line, so you might want to mount a cleat nearby. This winch is under-powered for heavy pulling, so make sure you break the anchor free before winching in line... use the cleat to break anchor free, or your winch won't last long.

beware of auto deploy
well, it was easy to install, and seemed to operate great, then it happened. darn thing auto deployed at about 11 miles an hour without anyone knowing. finally i spotted it moving and stopped the boat. we were at 57 feet so it took a lot of line out and got the boat stopped before all the rope was out and it grabbed.this had happened once before but we thought maybe someone bumped the extra dash button.. as a result the anchor rope got tangled in the prop. we had to cut the anchor lose, bye bye and luckily we had a trolling motor to get to some nearby coast to get out of the boat and undo some rope around the prop. but if we didnt have the troller we would have been drifting along. MY ADVICE: put an extra power switch , (which is what i plan to do after i get a new spool since it destroyed the one in the machine,) so you can cut power to it when necessary. so hopefully we can get the &*(^ -ing thing fixed. ps. half the time the auto deploy doesnt work.. better to use up and down, going to see if i can disable that too, maybe cut a wire? Works great and customer service is better!
Use mine on a 23 foot pontoon boat on Lesser Slave Lake, Alberta Canada. I have been impressed with it's power and ease of use.
