ClosetMaid 1608 Closet Organizer Kit with Shoe Shelf, 5-Foot to 8-Foot, White

This is an amazing product! It was so easy to install and it is very sturdy. Every shelf and rack is covered so I cannot even imagine how much weight is put on this storage system, yet the shelves do not even budge in the slightest. My closet space has tripled and all for a VERY affordable price. Sure, the wire shelves are not the most attractive piece but if you cannot afford the $300+ wooden closet systems, this is a great alternative!

This would not work in the closet that I originally wanted it in as the side came to a v. My other closet was 8 foot 2 inches so I adjusted the marks on the wall to be an inch in on each side. That worked out fine. It did take a while to assemble and needs two people. I'm excited to use it in my new home as I had one in my previous apartment preinstalled.

This is a great product. The directions were accurate and easy to follow. We turned our old fashioned closet with one rod into a space saving, easy to organize, amazing closet. The nicest thing about this system is how flexible the arrangement of shelves can be. We have a walk in and I was able to do different arrangements on either side. I was also able to integrate in some other wire shelves I had purchased at a garage sale. I've put in a couple of closet systems in the past but this was by far the nicest set up.

Its just, okay... I wanted to love it more than I do. On the plus side, it is sturdy and attractive. On the bad side - it was very annoying to install. If you install to studs, you have to cut off the mounting brackets with a hacksaw (a power saw will shatter the brackets). If you position the double rod as directed, the top shelf is so high as to be useless under a standard 8' ceiling. I cut off some at the bottom to drop the overall height and refilled the posts to accommodate what I took off - in hindsight, I should have simply mounted the posts upside down which would have solved that problem with no extra hole drilling from me. The wire shelves are atrocious to fit into the brackets once you mount them to the wall - an almost Herculean task!! Its also annoying to realize that when you let the shelves dangle down, as instructed, they will pop out if the brackets have straddled a piece of the shelf bracing. Ugh!!! And putting the shelves into the brackets scrapes off the white coating. Will it rust?? I don't know. I suggest starting at the top and mounting ONE shelf at a time so they never dangle. The joint that holds the two halves of the support posts together should also be a bit longer in a perfect world. Just an overall sloppy design on this, but once it is mounted, yes it is functional. Note also that the hanging rod is not continuous - it is in approx 8" sections, but I think that's fine at this price point.

The short, the closet is well worth the price. Installation is a pain but that is expected of a product like this. Very sturdy and stores a ton. One downfall but this is just on my own personal preference. There are only 4/5 different heights you can choose from for your shelving. I wanted my top shelf higher so we had to drill an additional hole to hold the frames in the main two stands.I took quite a leap with this closet having no idea what to expect. It fit nicely into the space I have and I definitely prefer this to a basic one rod closet any day. However there were a few cons. It is pretty much impossible to install this on your own. I had to have my brother take over the project from me and he still needed help holding and placing the pieces together. Secondlly, it does take a long time. I think our entire project took over 2 hours. The closet structure itself is very sturdy which is great when you have much to put away. The biggest factor that still annoys me all the time is the sections of hanging. They are not continuous but rather in small sections. If you look at the picture on the left side you'll see what I mean. It starts with a small section about 6 inches wide, than a much larger section and so one. So you can only fit so many hangers in each spot and forget about slides the items over one by one when you're looking for a shirt to wear. Wish this improved. Overall it fits the need but has room for improvement.

Great product! The shipment arrived promptly and all pieces were accounted for and not damaged. The directions are pretty clear and installation went smooth. It is nice to have an extra person to help hold the shelving during installation, but not absolutely necessary. Our closet was about 7.5 feet in length, so we needed to cut down a couple of the shelves using a hacksaw (as stated in the directions). Installation took about an hour to complete.Note: If your closet is over 8 feet from wall to wall, this product will not work.

It was expensive. I thought it could have been made of sturdier stuff considering the cost but it works very well. I can see all my clothes at once (it holds a lot) and has turned my old fashioned single wall closet into a nice, usable wardrobe. I installed a battery operated light in the closet and it's easily as usable as a walk in closet. I recommend even with the high price tag. I think it was worth it.

Instructions are horrible, we found it difficult to install based on instructions. Difficult to level shelves and outside frame gets in the way of storage. Bought the other Closetmaid system with the shelf track which was a breeze to install but it is more costly. Budget wise this unit is less expensive and we didn't have to cut shelves like a lot of reviewers. Just bought rubbermaid for another closet as it was less expensive than closetmaid shelftrack system and no shelf cutting required but haven't yet installed.
