Works well for cat scratching.
Easy to cut to size with ordinary scissors. Very large piece so would fit most doorways. The spikes on the bottom worked well on my thick pile carpet - not sure how it would work on a thin carpet. I didn't need to heat the plastic as some people did, just put under a few objects to press for a couple of hours. Thin enough for door to open and close on top of it. So far has stopped cat scratching up all the carpet from the doorway metal strip, and hides the damage she has already done.

Ideal for protecting carpets
Please be aware that some customers seem to be reviewing a different product (plastic film) on these reviews !!!!Recently moved home and spent thousands on new carpets throughout.Adopted a rescue cat and we messed up by shutting him in his safe room on first night. He pulled at the carpet by the door overnight which looked terrible. Luckily we could pull the shredded bits of carpet out so looks like new again and we now leave that door open 😁Wary of this we bought this product to protect our bedroom door. Being new to the house he is on the prowl early hours and we can sometimes hear him at the door scratching on the plastic which has fully protected it and stays in place.I just laid the product flat for an hour with the top of a coffee table weighing it down. Then easily cut it to size around the door with a pair of scissor’sYes it may be expensive for a piece of plastic but considerably cheaper than the cost of replacing the carpet

Thicker than it looks
This looks great online, I thought it would be ideal to put at top of stairs on landing, our cats favourite piece of carpet to scratch. It comes rolled up, very stiff and has to be softened up before use. It is good quality but I just wanted a piece of protective matting I could cut to size without any hassle. I returned it without any problems.

Robust protector
Great for protecting carpets between rooms! Our maine coon cat, is able to pull the carpet up from under the carpet bar between doors when wanting to get into a room, so we needed a robust protector, amd whilst costly, does the trick well, but size only does one door, so price can add up.

Fingers crossed I’ve outsmarted them… but for how long? 😥
It will act as a layer of protection as I have 3 cats. One sensible elder 13 year old and two little 9 month old maniacs. So had to cut off some of the spikes with a stanley knife as it didn’t let my door close properly but that’s ok.As the kittens had done quite a bit of damage already I needed to put duct tape down on top of the threshold bar. Then using a handy edge finder thing, use that to find the shape of both side of the door, transfer that shape to paper, then transfer it to the plastic mat. The mat wasn’t too hard to unravel and put down but I used a hairdryer to make it more pliable and a little flatter. Then used duct tape again to stick it down to carpet on the outside of the door and stuck a rug on top with carpet tape.Finger crossed as these kittens are determined and smarter than they look. It’s not perfect but it will be ok until they get older and we can replace it.Just be aware - You can’t just have the mat, you need to stick it down somehow.
