Would it be too confusing for the hunmers if I alternate the colors everyday while washing??

Absolutely not. They are attracted to bright colors, so you will be fine. I have a red one and a purple one and both get used. These are the BEST small feeders! I like them because I change my food often during hot days and by only holding 4 ounces, food doesn't get wasted.

what is this feeder made of?

Except for the screw on hook, the feeder is plastic. It was a gift so I do not have any experience with it but I liked it because the clear bottom portion come off so it can be cleaned thoroughly.

I was always told to make sure to buy a feeder that has alot of red on it since I use sugar water and not the red nectar stuff...will they still come to this purple one??

I feed a lot of hummers and use no red food coloring. At first when you put them out make your sugar water extra sweet. After they find it you can cut back on the sugar.

Hi! Can small bees fit through the ports? Thank You!

Have not had a bee issue in Michigan with this feeder
