New Morning Mercies for Teens: A Daily Gospel Devotional

The adult version of this devotional is my favorite, so when the teen version came out I got it for my teen children. Paul Tripp’s insight is through provoking and theologically accurate.

I've read all kinds of devotionals over my 80 years, but none were the equivalent of this for insight, perspective, and wisdom. It is an excellent nutrient for the health of my soul. It has caused me to ruminate, meditate, and chew on scripture as never before. I gave nearly 3 dozen to friends in the first few months, dog-eared dozens of pages, and captured many a turn of phrase. As a person with a childhood steeped in legalism, this has been an eye-opener, enormously expanding my concept and awareness of God's grace. It reads smoothly and fluently with clarity of thought and reason.

Purchased multiples for graduation gifts. Appreciate Tripp’s perspectives and words of wisdom. Deeper than many shallow devotionals.

This teen daily devotional came recommended by a trusted friend of mine for my 12-year old son. I bought the adult version at the same time for myself, but after comparing the two, I actually prefer the teen version even for myself. The teen version includes the scripture verses within the text rather than just the book/chapter/verse reference and includes helpful question prompts within each day’s devotion. The teen and adult books are otherwise largely the same, though the language in the teen version is slightly adjusted for a teen audience. I added devotional time using this book to my son’s daily responsibility chart, and he’s been pretty consistent incorporating this devotional into his day. I’d call that a win. Recommend!

Not just for teens! My mom gets on the phone each morning and reads this with my girls. It’s so easy to read but yet deep and impactful on the heart!

I’m so happy Paul Tripp released this teen devotional! My 14 yr old daughter is really enjoying this and uses it everyday. It has really helped to solidify her devotional time. It very accessible for teens and has really helped to establish more direction in her Bible reading. Paul Tripp’s devotionals really help you to think like a Christian. My husband is a minister and is constantly recommending them to people. So I was so excited when I saw this and immediately ordered it for our 14 year old daughter. Paul Tripps parenting videos reveal just how much counseling experience he has with teens and parents of teens. I’m very thankful he’s sharing that wisdom in this book to help our teens as they seek to strengthen their faith and navigate a difficult age.

Every Christmas I purchase a new family devotional for the new year, to do with the kids during our worship time at home. It is not easy to find one that has 365 devotions, one per day of the year, and is appropriate for their level. A lot of devotional books will be geared toward younger kids, which I appreciated when I had that age. This book is a good selection overall. It has one devotion per day, easy to do as a family, provides questions for thoughtful discussion after the devotion, scriptural and sound in Biblical doctrine, and has many Bible references. The one thing that I don't love is applicability. It feels as though some of the devotions are more esoteric, harder for a teenager to apply to their own life or identify with. The other thing I don't love is the way it is phrased--the author uses a lot of repetitive questions (Do you have an issue with your friends? Do you have an issue with your homework? etc. Those are not actual examples from the book.).

Gave to grandsons for Christmas. They really like it and use it.

Paul Tripp is a brilliant writer who articulates gospel truth in really helpful and accessible ways. Both my wife and I have read and still dip in and out of his version for adults, and bought this for the teenagers in our family who, 8 days into the new year, still reading them on a daily basis (amazing really, they've given up with similar daily devotional content before) - thank you Mr Tripp!

My daughter age 16 loves this. It's been tricky to find a really good teen devotional that has deeper content for teens really pursuing faith. This book ticks the box ☑️
