Worked fine on a slightly used, never properly degreased new chain. Hot wax adheres well.

Great product. It makes whole wax process so easy. Chain wax is definitely a way to go. I would not turn back to oil lubricate method again. It's clean and efficient way for your bike. Furthermore, it will just make your chain last longer with no question mark.

This product works great, but I don’t recommend it unless you have SILCA’s own temperature controlled wax melter. The double boiler type set up doesn’t get hot enough and a crockpot takes a very very long time to get up to 125°C which you have to reach for the strip chip to work on the factory grease/. I ended up wishing I just bought their chain stripper/degreaser. Would’ve actually been faster for me.

I bought the Silca waxing system. Waxing a new chain using their system and the strip chip was super simple. I talked to some friends who have used a crock pot and various chemicals to prep and wax new chains. For the money, this makes waxing chains super simple - and almost idiot proof. The strip chip removes any need to prep your new chain as it simply dissolves the oil on the pre-oiled chain.I’ve never had a smoother, quieter chain on either my gravel bike or my mountain bike. Almost looking forward to when my road bike chain wears out so I can put a waxed chain on it as well!

What an epic system, LOVE not having to mess with oil and nasty cleaners 24/7 while also having better chain life and lubrication. I’m constantly messing with new gearing and different chains etc so the strip chip saves a ton of time cleaning new factory greased chains!

Definitely simplified the degreasing process. You do have to make sure to follow every step in the instructions. I still did pre-degreasing prior with some orange clean to loosen remove most of the factory grease. Chain came out nicely waxed afterwards.
