The Professional (The Game Maker Series Book 1)

I have no idea why this gem of a story is rated so low on Goodreads.
The writing is brilliant, witty and flowed effortlessly off the page and into my greedy brain. Natalie is a US PhD student looking for her biological parents and definitely gets more than she bargained for when her father is found and informed of her existence. Natalie is funny, feisty and not a doe eyed innocent naive, virgin (yay!). It was refreshing to not read 'my sex' for the millionth time.. never heard the term this character used for her hairy mary before, but still preferred it to 'sex'. Aleks is an enforcer, from a hard life that has made him emotionally withdrawn and harbours distinct tastes. There's a lot of BDSM so if that's your kink you'll love it, but even if it's not (like me), there's enough packed into the story to still love it.. and I absolutely did. The only negative I had was the back and forth angst between Aleks and Natalie stretched out a bit too much. After several back and forth, I was like either get it together or separate and move on.Natalie's friend Jess is a hoot, she goes through men quicker than I eat hot dinners.. and I love food! I would love to see her catch the love bug.. wouldn't mind reading her journey to HEA.I will definitely be reading this author again. This was my first, but certainly won't be my last.

slow start
Quite a slow start, and I couldn’t get into it…. But I’m glad I persevered. A great book, very well written. I would have preferred to have had some chapters written from his perspective as his character seems a tad one dimensional in comparison to hers.

3 star storyline with 5 star character relationships
I was introduced to this book on twitter (what a surprise) when my friend Victoria was reading it as part of the #SexMeUpReadathon that she along with the other Gosling Girls Book Tour girls were hosting in conjunction with the The Hot Bed team over at Simon and Schuster. I read the story in the three parts which were available on kindle from Amazon and read them back to back because I couldn’t end the story at only 30% through. The story is all about main character and narrator Natalie. She’s a student and workaholic trying to put herself through a PhD without relying on anyone. She’s known for being able to read guys a mile off but when one dark and mysterious stranger defies her ability her life gets turned completely upside down.First of all let me just put it out there that the story line is really a tad farfetched. For a kick off we’re talking about the mafia, abduction and gun toting Russians. Not anything that I know a lot about. If you are able to overlook the implausibility of the main character finding herself in this situation then I’m sure you will enjoy their relationship.Natalie and Aleksandr have an instant chemistry that sparks straight from their first meeting in the bar. It later becomes revealed that as part of his work he has been following and protecting Natalie for a little while. Their chemistry intensifies when the characters are forced to spend time together in close quarters.I really enjoyed their relationship, particularly when they were sparking off of one another in the beginning. The sexual element of their relationship is intense, very descriptive and contains some scenes which readers may not enjoy or may be put off by. This is definitely an over 18 read. Although I found it farfetched I did enjoy the writing and found that I couldn’t put any of the 3 parts down until I had finished them. Although I didn’t really know that much about Russian history which was included in the book it felt like it was well researched and descriptive enough to be relevant to the book without overpowering it.

WOW! - Strong storyline & characters, steamy scenes, and good editing...
I chose this rating because I couldn't put the book down from page one. Cole is a very descriptive and imaginative writer. The flow of the story and characters were incredibly engaging and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Subsequently I bought part 2 and liked it almost just as much as the first one.I have previously read Cole before and will continue to do so because it is always a guarantee Coles' stories will be well written and intriguing. The story line was very nice... with a few key steamy scenes.I know this is not a revealing review, but for those who purchase books (like me) and are often disappointed in the lack of effort made to guarantee there are limited or few editing errors, be rest assured you can safely read this book for the story description and strong editing makes for an enjoyable read.

Kresley Cole at her best!
After reading the other posters reviews about the cliff hanger endings, I resolutely determined to wait until all three came out. I tried, I really, really did try to leave it unread on my kindle, but I couldn’t -curiosity got the better of me!! Now I've finished part 2 and I am biting my nails waiting for the 20th for part 3!! Monday can’t come soon enough!!I always enjoy Ms. Cole's books as she is a great master of the written word. I won’t spoil any of the events of the books with any spoilers, but if you are undecided then I hope you take this review and the others as encouragement to try it. I was whisked away with Natalie and Sevastyan and caught up in their romance. I couldn’t put the book down and devoured it in one sitting. Natalie is one lucky girl!!

Not sure .....
I am a huge fan of KC and have read all of her books I admit I was a very hesitant about trying her US series but later this year I gave it a go and I freaking loved it so much that the Arcania series has now become my favourite!!! I think it helped the fact that I adored the two main leads especially Evie who was so sweet and adorable. This book while Sev was really hot and delicious Nat was just annoying I agree with other reviewers that her character was just too arrogant and full of herself she just seemed to lack warmth and even though I knew this book was an erotica she was acting like a sex mad immature teenager, I seriously disliked her enough that I don't know if I want to read the next two books. The writing was excellent as usual by this author and plot very interesting just wish Nat was a little less of everything and had a bit more pride and self respect that she would stop acting like a nympho. Sorry KC but Nat just turned me off this series.
