Ok, great pump, the 1 hp sucks out my whole big sized sump pump pit in 5 seconds, my old 1/3 hp pump was from a big box store, is 10 years old, I have 2 of these pumps, both over 10 years old, working like a champ, but with recent floods in my area increasing, we wanted more power, got it in this Wayne. I will buy another for my second pit in a month if this Wayne holds up well. Heres my problem with this unit, the metal rod holding the float looks flimsy, as other reviewers have stated, also the Wayne manual suggests changing the float switch every 2 years, never had to do this with my other standard sump pumps. Vertical swithch in this unit is great, but I have a feeling I'll be changing the float and the switch within 5 years at most. Instructions on the internet how to do this are available, the float is 35 bucks on amazon, the switch is 20. So not a big deal, I ordered this unit knowing all this from the reviews. Guess I'm spoiled by having 3 regular sump pumps, 1 lasted 7 years, the other 2 are 10 years old and still working, so I believe the Wayne motor may last 10 years, but maintenance on the float and swithch sort of sucks, but any vertical float switch may not last as long as the older floats, idk At least with the Wayne unit you can replace the float and swithch more easily then your standard pump. This pump is great, but will be a long time in trusting this unit to last, I will update as time goes by. My sump pump pit is large, so a regular float be fine by me, but none are available at this high horsepower with good ratings, so trying the vertical model, and hope for the best, if I do order a second pump, I will order the float assembly and swithch, I figure out of 2 of these units I will be changing one or the other within 5 years or less, so I'll have my 2 older sump pumps ready just in case, and keep the parts on hand instead of waiting to order them when needed, we will see All research on the internet has Wayne pumps one of the highest, and most affordable compare to zoeller pumps, 3 times price wise of this Wayne pump for a 1 hp. Time will tell, love the pump, just not really confident in getting 5 years out of it without replacing the float or switch, and the 5 year warranty from reading their manual sounds like it will be tougher to get the unit fixed if needed, but just my gut feeling on this. I'm not using pvc pipes, never have, I use the black hose to be flexible when needed, makes it easy to change out the pump when needed,. I bought the check valve but didn't use it, it's made for pvc pipe, not the black flexible hose I use, no biggie, I like the water flushing back in, helps clean out any debris that may try to clog the unit. Also I'm using a heavy duty 3 pronged extension cord even though the manual suggest not too, the cord is only 7 feet or so long, I've used it on my other sump pumps much cheaper, so Wayne has to suck it up and work with a heavy extension cord, so far so good, next flood I can tell better when unit runs for 30 mins or so non stop. So I say this Wayne unit for the price cant beat it, but must be willing to change float or swithch when needed. Unless you just buy a new one, much cheaper to replace the parts. Just wish Wayne had more confidence in their product so I could be, 5 stars until I see any reason to change it, giving Wayne the benefit of the doubt, as far as noise, very quiet pump, I checked the screws on the unit to insure they were tight, all were. Seems heavy but not overly too much, I don't care if the body rusts a bit, sure it will be surface rust only, not affecting the units functioning. I helped myself by capping both of my drains in basement and crawl space, as all went into the yard inside the ground, every flood water came rushing into my house because of this, now water comes in during a flood still but much slower, so 2 sump pumps are for my piece of mind in case we get a major flood like last year, 18 inches of water in my basement, 1200 dollars to repair my furnace, lucky my hot water tank survived, its an 80 gallon beast for my jetted spa bathtub. So investing in Wayne to prevent this damage next major flood, lived in my house 20 years and last years flood was the worst of my 56 years on this planet, scared me straight, so more power now, hate floods but curious if we get another major flood how this pump will keep up running for 3 hours straight as my other ones had to, that will be the true test. Mother Nature can be nasty, but hopefully Wayne's helps even the odds next battle, I'll update again when I got more to add, I will order another for my second pit soon, starting to gain confidence in the pump, ty gl

These pumps are built very well! This Wayne (CDU100 1HP) pump replaced a Wayne pump that I had for 20+ years. Recently this part of WI had an enormous rain and widespread flooding. The old Wayne kept my basement dry despite the old age sounds coming from the well worn pump. I decided it was time to replace with another Wayne as it held up and didn't let me wadding in water despite its old age. For that reason it is a 5 star rated well worth the cost pump!

I had a 3/4 hp sump pump (not the same brand as for this review) in the basement which one lovely day couldn't keep up with the inflow of water, which allowed the basement to get soaked. I needed a stronger replacement, so bought this 1 hp model. This pump not only pumps at a much higher volume (as it should), it is also a LOT quieter. It is very hard to hear from upstairs when it cycles, which I like a lot. The other thing is, the 3/4 hp pump I had purchased as one of the big box home stores and which cost probably $100+ more. This one was far cheaper, so liked that factor as well. My plan is to put a secondary sump location in my basement. When I do, I plan on purchasing another one of these pumps to evacuate the sump.

The pump quality is excellent. What I caution on is the capacity of this 1 HP unit compared to the amount of water coming into the sump pit. This unit pushes appx. 6000 gallons an hour so it sucks the pit empty quickly due to the pump capacity. This causes the float to bottom out, shutting off the pomp only to have it turn on in 3 seconds. This is obviously referred to as cycling which will diminish the life of the motor. My solution was to install a piggy back float switch which triples the water in the pit prior to the punp coming on. This allows time in between start ups. In my situation a 1/2 HP pump would suffice. Bigger is not always better.

UPDATED Got some water, want it moved, need it out of there yesterday? This is the pump that will do it, build it a non restricting discharge manifold, plumb it with the lowest head possible ( mine is 18" total lift ). It will send the water out so hard you will think of pulling out the ABS drains and putting in schedule 40 PVC! Not that anyone would use ABS right but if they had? UPDATE:I have been running four of these pumps round the clock, seven days a week, for the last year and a half with out a single issue, none. I would have washed away if not for these little mighty monsters. Do they have rust around the base? Of course they do, it started within hours. The pump housing is Cast Iron for crying out loud, why powder coat Cast Iron, it wont stop the inevitable, simply delay it at huge cost in manufacturing one which we the consumers will pay for. Further more, there are two other major factors at play here. One of which is referred to as differential metals, the stainless and aluminium in close proximity/contact with both each other and ferrous iron causes them to react with one another in this environment. The second and most important because it's impossible to avoid without zinc anodes to provide cathodic protection is electrolysis. The aforementioned will get the iron through almost anything without cathodic protection, since most people don't even know what I am talking about it's safe to say they will not be maintaining their zincs. That rust is harmless for the most part, by the time it starts causing problems you and I will be dead unless your pump sits stationary in a pool of stagnant water all year

These pumps are beasts. My local hardware store tops out at 1/2hp. This pump really moves the water.

The only way to know this is a 120v power is to very ver closely examine the photos. The pump will therefore require a US to UK voltage converter, not something you really want in a wet pump room! Am amazed this is not highlighted in the description on Amazon.

Great sump pump. Moves water fast and quiet... Where I live this thing will run 24/7. Even in deep Feb - 35c outside, somehow water still gets in and this pump takes care of it no problem. I had an issue one morning of the Check valve seized closed on the pvc pipe. Pump was churning for 8+ hours trying to pump water out. Almost flooded entire house.. Replaced the 10 dollar check valve. Pump runs like nothing happened. Still quite and running smooth. May have taken a few cycles out of its life but it does seem to be fazed as of yet. Would and will buy again.

We have 2 of these Wayne pumps 1 3/4 hp & another 1 hp We have had zero issues and they move a ton of water

This sump pump is incredible! Very powerful, highly efficient and quiet as a mouse. My previous sump would go off and could be heard all around our little house, often keeping me awake at night. This Wayne CDU1000 sump is so quiet you cannot hear it at all. It pushes out gallons of water with great ease. On top of that it is very affordable and competitively priced. Highly recommended.

This is the first sump pump I've purchased that is rated over 3/4 HP. This Wayne 1 HP model is a beast, very solid construction, super fast to empty the pit and virtually silent aside from the water flowing through the pipes.
