Nigel's Joy.
Not only is Nigel Slater a cook with many excellent recipe books to his name, but he is a very fine writer. His latest book, A Thousand Feasts, is not a cook book, but a memoir of a life lived through food. Tiny delightful moments experienced through travel and an example to living and enjoying the here and now.A lovely bedside book.

Fabulous book.
Nigel Slater is a brilliant cook and writer. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about his travels. And the piece about the bacon sandwich was amazing.Highly recommended reading. 😀👍

An odd but fascinating book
Nigel's trips around the world include eating in some most unusual places and these little descriptions of food and surroundings are the product of a sharp eye and appreciation for colour whether in ceramics or his garden . I read it little by little over a week and was uplifted every day .

Glorious
I love Nigel Slater. His writing is sublime. This is a joyful book of moments captured through Slater's glorious use of imagery. Not a narrative, rather a dip into his notebooks. A real pleasure to read.

Damp !
Bought for a present after seeing the reviews and reading snippets of the book on Amazon ..lovely colours on the cover and most appealing making you want to read this book …”UNFORTUNATELY “ the book was damp and the actual pages were wavy when you looked at it side on .. I didn’t have time to replace so gave to my friend an imperfect present which I wasn’t very happy about but at least she laughed 🫤

Utterly delightful
What a joy this book is to read. Sharply written, wonderfully descriptive, totally absorbing. One can “see” the locations and almost taste the food described. The observations, the humour, make this book a true feast for the reader.

Savour this little bit of heaven
I greedily gobbled up the first half of the book when it arrived. Now I'm rationing and savouring the remainder because I don't want it to end. Thank you Nigel for sharing these precious and beautifully observed memories, a joy to read.

Incredible and delightfully great book
I laughed and I cried in this amazing book by Nigel Slater. I have read many of his grand books, but this one touched my heart and my soul. His words go so deep into your soul; his words are delicious. His words bring back my memories long-forgotten and his words fill your heart to the brim of happiness. I never felt so much from a writer. You feel you are with him on his journeys in this book. I’m just bedazzled by it all. A must-read book that will never ever be forgotten. Incredible!

I LOVE this book!
Nigel Slater has long been one of my favorite writers, and I have (and love) many of his cookbooks which are interspersed with his stories of life in the kitchen, gardens and travels. His latest book - A Thousand Feasts - may be my favorite so far. While enjoying our local beach today in North Carolina, I'm savoring small moments around the globe through Nigel. Read this book!
