trying to thread a standard thickness cable along with power and an HDMI lead through a monitor arm was impossible, this thin cable works great and was able to fit inside the arm to help keep everything neat.

As others have observed these are an interference fit and do not feature the standard DisplayPort latching connector. This could be a benefit or a drawback depending on your use case. For me it's a benefit as access is tight and anyone who has worked in desktop support knows how much of a PITA latching connectors can be when you're already struggling to reach a connector/port, especially when it comes to removing them; even moreso when the connectors are stacked one above the other and you need to remove the bottom one. No such problems with these connectors. The other reason I got these was the cable diameter and flexibility. I use a dual DisplayPort KVM (so, six DP cables in total) and the regular thick, inflexible Displayport cables, whilst undoubtedly more durable, are nothing more than a cable routing nightmare in that situation. Yes, these have very light strain relief, so if that's a serious concern look elsewhere, but again in some situations this is actually a desirable feature. In many cases the cable thickness, strain relief, connector latching and general unwieldy nature of standard DP cables is overkill, so if like me you want a more manageable solution at the expense of all the added durability then I'd say these are a decent choice. I haven't tried these with 8K, as I don't have any 8K displays, however am running 4K @ 60Hz through a budget KVM ("K-CEVE" brand) with no picture quality issues whatsoever. One of my monitors is capable of 120Hz and 144Hz refresh rates, however I get a blank display when I try to enable them with the KVM in the chain - I suspect this is a limitation of the KVM and not the cable. In a few days I'll have a chance to test direct connection. I will update this review if the cable does NOT work at these refresh rates. The only reason these don't get the full 5 stars from me is that, whilst I specifically wanted non-latching connectors, for that same reason I'd prefer the interference fit to be a little tighter. Once these are set up and left alone, the connectors won't fall out or anything like that, but a little bit of cable strain or lateral force can loosen them or put them at an odd angle, and they might need straightening up if you have been mucking around with your desk setup or have curious children/pets.

L shape connector is helpful on a crowded desk.
