โReliable RS-485 sensor for Modbus-based monitoring (lab + OT pipeline tested)โ
Iโm using this sensor in a Modbus-based OT lab setup, so reliability and consistency matter more than just โit works.โ Current setup: RS-485 sensor โ Modbus โ Python โ JSON โ InfluxDB โ Grafana Whatโs working well: โข Stable Modbus communication (no random drops under normal conditions) โข Clean register reads โ easy to parse and scale values in Python โข Consistent temperature output (no jitter or unexpected spikes) โข Works well with USB-to-RS485 adapters on Linux systems Iโm polling it continuously as part of a monitoring pipeline, and it integrates cleanly into real-time dashboards. One important thing to know: โข Like most Modbus devices, error handling matters โ if communication drops, you need logic to detect stale or invalid data (not a sensor issue, but important for real systems) Big takeaway: This sensor is solid for building real monitoring pipelines, especially if youโre working with Modbus, SCADA-style systems, or industrial data collection. Itโs not just a sensor โ itโs a reliable data source for automation and detection workflows.

Very low quality sensor
This sensor is very slow when it works. I compared this with a Modbus RTU AM2320 and the response of the AM2320 is much faster. This sensor takes around 60 seconds or more to update the value. It is almost impossible to make a control. In most cases, it disconnects from the master and never answers back again. I tested with Modbus Poll and PLC. With Modbus Poll, I can see the messages from the master to this device and they look as they are supposed to be, however, the sensor doesn't answer back to the master. Very poor performance for the hight cost compared to cheaper ones. I will investigate if I can return this thing.

Very solid temp and humidity sensor
This is a really nice sensor. I'm using it to monitor the temperature in a freezer via a RS485 modbus over ethernet controller connected to HomeAssistant. So far it's working perfectly, and is more reliable than a wireless ESP32 based sensor. I'm extremely pleased with this sensor and would definitely recommend it!

Very bad response sensor
Very nice presentation and information. But sensor is useless. I tested vs others similar and the response is horrible. First it takes a lot of seconds to report a change in both temperature and humidity. Then humidity recover back taking some time, however the temperature I'm still waiting to be back to ambient temperature after heating it just with my hand. I was thinking on buying several of this for my projects but really is useless sensor. No recommended to buy it.

Easier to set up than most Modbus sensors, but no calibration registers.
One of the nifty features of this sensor is that it uses a set of switches in the senor to set the device address. I find this to be better than writing the device address to a modbus register, because there is no longer any reference to what the address is, unless it is noted on the sensor itself. The only write register is the baud rate. There are no calibration registers in this sensor. Doing some bench testing against some of my standards, I did find there needed to be about 1.2 degrees C offset and nearly 10% humidity offset to read to my calibration standards. Since there are no calibration registers in this sensor, you will need to integrate this correction into your PLC, or whatever device you are using to read the data off of this sensor.

Works with easy setup via dip switches as advertised.
Works correct. Easy RS485 setup with dip switches.
