Physics Optics Experiment Set

This is not the highest quality prism etc but for the price it is very good. I used this to teach about light and it worked well

Lots of options to play with lights and explain basic physic principles. Not really going to last forever but it works and is not that fragile.

There are so many pieces in this kit! And so many "experiments" you can do with them (or maybe better to call them "demonstrations").It comes with everything you need, even batteries for the light/laser emitting parts of the kit.This was a cool way to bring classroom-grade equipment home for some science lessons. Having been familiar with some of the concepts (my absolute favorite is the RGB to CMYK additive-vs-subtractive light demo, so I was able to nail that one). Some are easy to just mess around with like reflection/refraction of laser beams, but become harder to "teach" scientifically if you don't have that experience.The kit comes with a 2-sided sheet of instructions that are in English but not very clear English. (There's also a detailed diagram of the human eye labeled in Chinese, but you can find a similar picture in your language on Google). The sheet mentions 3-4 concepts (reflection/refraction, RGB primary colors, and small hole / straight-line propogation). What you see in the pictures is more or less what you get in the printed instructions and nothing more. SO if you're looking to learn or teach without already being familiar with these concepts at a scientist/teacher level, there's a good chance you're going to need to outsource finding the core knowledge beyond the kit (Wikipedia, a textbook, etc) and then use the kit as instruments to see the concepts hands-on.I would have given it 5 stars if it came with more of a booklet "for dummies" (or for "big kids") that really outlines each demonstration step-by-step.One more small qualm... it comes with 3 light filters, Red, Green, and... Yellow. It should be Red, Green, and Blue to fit in with the primary additive colors!!Anyway... if you're browsing for this item, there's a good chance it's because you're a school teacher, homeschool teacher, or extracurricular science club tutor... I'd still recommend this kit at this price, because for $30 a "made in USA" science kit is going to get you much, much less real science. But practice everything on your own, re-organize the pieces into specific lesson plans, and know what you're doing BEFORE you start showing your kid(s) if you want it to be meaningful. If you're just a curious mind looking to learn/test for yourself, well, you'll probably have a lot of fun making sense of it all!

Minimalist product kit lacking instruction manual & optics explanation.

I am always on the lookout for affordable demos for my middle school classroom, and had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately out of the three light sources, only one worked properly. One did not function at all, and was missing an essential component in the battery case. The other (3 LED unit) would power up, but the lights were installed incorrectly, and would not align. I can salvage the prisms from this kit, but nothing else.

Two 'F' brackets are supplied with no explanation for their use. Overall the kit is cheaply constructed but still useful.
