Fatima in Lucia's Own Words: The Memoirs of Sister Lucia, the Last Fatima Visionary

Great Set
This set contains Sister Lucia's book plus 2 DVDs. The book is surprisingly well written for someone who was not a professional author. The world is fortunate that Lucia's spiritual advisers asked her to write down everything she remembered about the apparitions. There's also some additional commentary by an expert in the Catholic faith. Not surprisingly those supernatural experiences were the defining experiences of the Fatima kids' lives. As Mary predicted they went through Hell in various forms ranging from persecution by the government spooks to disbelief by their neighbors to privations they imposed on themselves such as not eating or even drinking water. Two of the kids died a few short years later. The realization that they weren't going to grow up was undoubtedly another cross.Lucia was destined to remain in this world and become a nun. She lived a humble and austere life. I don't think she even had a desk in the convent where she could read her books but rather would sit on top of an old chest. The book and DVDs explain the so called secrets of Fatima which in many cases match up with historical events that occurred mainly during the 20th century. The idea that the human race could be annihilated by an angel's flaming sword is unfortunately no longer just an impossible nightmare. After the original experiences Lucia had some other visions. One of those visions was the famous scene with Mary, Christ, the Holy Spirit as a dove, and God the Father. The Fatima experience validates certain ideas that Catholics believe in such as the Holy Trinity and the mystical properties of the Eucharist. The DVDs are good and contain a lot of additional insights including interviews with people who knew the Fatima kids personally. The DVDs talk about another book that Lucia wrote but which I haven't read: Calls from the Message of Fatima Mary is a goddess I believe and the Church more or less venerates her in this way. She is I believe also Aset / Isis in the Egyptian religion and Athena for the Greeks. Like those other goddesses Mary seems to feel a deep responsibility for our world.I think the infamous Men In Black paid the Fatima kids a visit. Lucia describes this encounter as follows:"On a certain day three gentlemen came to speak to us. After their questioning, which was anything but pleasant, they took their leave with this remark:'See that you decide to tell that secret of yours. If you don't, the Administrator has every intention of taking your lives !' "The Men In Black remind people of undertakers who have been locked up in an old, musty trunk for 200 years. In Lucia's words but not what I wanted to learn...
I am one of those people who waited up at midnight 1959-1960 expecting to hear the Third Secret revealed. Well that didn't happen! Over the years, especially lately, I count myself enough of a Fatima-ista to count as an expert on every detail. So, of course I would choose to read this book. BUT, since I am so knowledgeable, what I wanted to know was the how and why of her entrance with the Dorothean Sisters, and most especially, the Carmelites. Not here! It is a worthwhile read, however, with many vignettes about her memories of her cousins. For those who have a tender devotion to Fatima...do choose it.

Informative and Enlightening
“Fatima in Lucia’s Own Words” provides information from the remaining and only adult source of the Apparitions. Sister Lucia’s writing is clear and concise. She enlightens her readers to the many direct and some nuanced messages from Our Lady.

This book will draw you closer to God
I love this book. It delves into the personalities of the three Fatima children, and shows how holy they are. I was admittedly confused how such small children (especially Jacinto and Francisco) could endure and yet willfully embrace suffering. I could not understand with my human secular reasoning. My priest explained that these children were so very close to and loved by God, and their souls so holy, that despite their littleness their souls transcended what would be difficult for normal people to endure. It is clear to me too that God does not cause suffering, but rather it is a result of sin. After having read this book I feel closer to Our Lady, I am so grateful to understand her message, to be enlightened to her suffering and God’s justified anger against the world, and to understand the dire need for reparation for our sins committed against Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart.

Fabulous to read of this Sacred account from Sr. Lucia's own pen!
This is a critical time for all to know the Secrets of Fatima and spread the Heavenly Father's desire to make reparation for sin committed against his Holy Mother! OUR Mother!! Read and follow these simple requests!

Adorable
It doesn't, on first sight, look like the most promising enterprise, but I can honestly say that this is the most touching, remarkable and life affirming book I have read this year. The children are so brave and independent and their experiences utterly captivating. Lucia's writing style is second to none: honest, straight-forward, humble, dry and wise. I couldn't recommend this book more highly.
