Cons and Pros
I'm giving this 3 stars because there are a few things I didn't like. Something that was really disappointing was that after I finished steaming my first batch of vegetables and washed the trays, I could see this dark dust-like material running out from behind the inner lip of the trays. What is that? What did I just steam into my food?! My guess is that it's leftover residue from the manufacturing process, so who knows how many toxins are in my carrots and broccoli now. Mind you, I did wash everything before using it - I think the heat loosened it up. The other thing that I would call out to other consumers is that this steamer is not stackable like other steamers. The steamer I had before had a slightly smaller top tray than the bottom so that you can place the smaller tray within the bigger one when storing it to save space. I also think the controls are not the best - but I get that it is just not a steamer, so a lack of simplicity should be expected. More function, more complications. Lastly, I will say that this is a big steamer, which is why I got it in the first place. I steamed 4 pounds of carrots and 2 pounds 8 oz of broccoli and I had more than enough space.

I love everything except the design.
Larger than I thought, but I like the size. It has pretty much all the funationalities with a timer. My favorite part was that it was all 304 stainless steel. The only downside is the design. It doesn't feel like a high end sleek design but it's from 80's kitchen.

It’s a Must Have
My wife says this large steamer is “the bomb”, and I can assure you that she knows her way around steamers, we’ve owned a bunch over the years. This one is easy to clean and the timer ensures that everything steamed comes out perfect. The base in not immersible ( like all similar items) but I have no trouble cleaning it. We use the base for shabu shabu and we get an authentic restaurant experience without the exhorbitant cost. Durability seems fine, we’ve owned for over a year and going strong .

Steamer
I got this a few months ago just had the chance to use it once. Steamed meat which was very tender. I want to steam eggs but haven't gotten to it yet. It's large to put it other than out rather than stuff it in a cabinet. Don't have the space. I love that it's stainless steel. I had a plastic one I cooked eggs then started to peel the eggs they were not cooked. It's why I got this I would not get the plastic one.
