Eye-searingly bright, light-weight, excellent for star-pointing!
This DCLIKRE laser pointer is everything I was looking for in a star-pointer. For less than a quarter of the cost of some name-brand alternatives, this laser pointer beam is clearly visible at night (pardon the potato quality photo - it's actually considerably more distinct & sharper than shown...). The laser spot itself is obnoxiously bright - no astronomer will want the spot actually pointed at anything nearby! Keep it pointed up to the sky. At dusk, I can easily see the spot on trees at least half a mile away, and the spot was bright even against indirect sunlight just after noon. Beam divergence is minimal - at 100 feet, the spot seemed to diverge slightly to the size of a pencil or so - it looks bigger from a distance, but that's just the 'bloom' from the intensity. The beam is tight enough to remain a visible beam well into the long distance, and perceptually appears as a tight line when pointing at stars. For non-astro use... this is not a pointer to use indoors, or for cats - it's simply too bright - dangerously so!The laser is labeled "less than 5000mw" of power, which is a maximum rating 1000x the typical red pointer. Given that the pointer doesn't seem to heat up black electrical tape, it's obviously nowhere near 5W of power (which is laser-cutter territory), but it seems plausibly (and unscientifically) somewhere in the 50-100mw range. The case is a thin aluminum, with a spring-steel clip, and a plastic protector head. The holographic pattern head is... gratuitous. I don't have any use for it, but it's a 10-second novelty that I quickly removed. There is a charging light on the main body of the pointer, but it's really small and really dim. However, it does work. The charging port is a micro-USB, not USB-C, and no cable was included in the package. However, I have bags full of old phone cables that seem to work well, so no real loss there - I am personally glad to not have yet another cable floating around.TL;DR: Great value, ultra-bright, wonderful for star pointing, rechargeable, light-weight. Too bright for indoor & pet use, needs a micro-USB cable. I'm a happy amateur backyard astronomer.

Very bright, lightweight green laser pointer
For the price, this is a very bright, green laser pointer.I tested it with the charge it arrived with, indoors, during daylight in a room with three large windows and several lights on. It was bright enough that just the reflection from the rug while playing with the cats for a few minutes was enough to make my eyes uncomfortable. It’s very lightweight, and feels almost entirely made of plastic, except for the clip, and some internal components. Despite looking like a metal tactical light, it is quite plastic, but I don’t think that degrades its performance unless you plan to be rough with it.I’ve never understood the real utility of the “star cap” gratings, but the one it comes with does make pretty patterns. Its housing is plastic, coated to look like shiny metal, and mine has a small cosmetic defect as shown in the photo. It was difficult to remove the first time, but easy on subsequent attempts (to remove it, push in on the silver cap while turning it counterclockwise). The laser pointer comes with a small plastic clip that fits over the button to protect it from being activated in transit, or in a junk drawer, bag, etc. I’d recommend keeping that, as if you tossed the pointer in a bag or drawer as-is, the button could easily be activated (as I learned firsthand), since it sticks out from the barrel and is totally unprotected otherwise.Do not let kids play with this; as the label says — it’s BRIGHT.Finally, it’s cat approved, and since it’s a bit larger than the super slim pocket pointers, it’s comfortable to grip for an extended feline exercise session.

A very bright laser pointer.
This laser pointer came in a small cardboard box along with an instruction manual and a star pattern beam splitter. The laser pointer is rechargeable via a USB Micro B port, although a charging cable wasn't included. One can install the beam splitter by screwing it into the end of the laser and one can change the pattern by rotating the assembly, it's a cool feature but I don't think it's all that useful. The laser beam is quite bright, even in daylight the dot is quite intense and is hard on the eyes to look at. It has very long range, at night the beam looks like it goes all the way to whatever thing you are pointing at, whether it's a distant mountain or the moon. The power output seems high, while I don't think one can light something on fire with it, it will start to burn one's hand if the dot is pointed at the skin for more than a few seconds. All in all, I think this is a pretty good laser pointer for pointing out stars and geographic details at night.

An OK laser - the important parts work
This is a powerful green laser, strong enough to be a lot of fun to play with as advertised. The laser, seems to work well, which is the important part. The reason this doesn't get 5 stars is that though part of the body is metal, the main baffle part on the end is plastic and feels very cheap. Overall the whole thing feels generally cheap and light weight. It also uses a micro USB charger instead of USB-C which makes it feel out of date and is a pain since most everything else I have these days is USB-C.Small gripes though, at the core, this is a good laser so far, but somehow the build quality makes me wonder how long it will last.
