Anyone who says it's not growing is doing one of two things wrong: 1) not watering it multiple times a day, 2) not putting a 1/4"-1/2" layer of soft dirt over the seed to hold it down. I bought one bag at first and tried it out on a few different areas and once I saw it was successful I bought a second bag. I noticed that if I loosen up the dirt before putting the seed down, and then put dirt on top of the seed, sprouts will appear within a week or so. If I don't do those things, and I water for a week straight, they won't pop up, but then I pile dirt on those areas and the next day I can already see a tiny sprout. I have seen it done a different way - put the seed and dirt in a wheelbarrow and mix it all up, then pour it over your yard. I haven't tried that so I don't know if that works as well or better. I just keep doing it the way I explained above and it works great for me. The only problem is I don't really know what I'm doing...like when to seed, how much shade or sun it really can take, and how it will survive in hot climates. I live in Phoenix and I planted it around spring time but by the middle of summer ALL of the grass I planted was dead. I probably did something wrong, or Phoenix was simply too hot for this grass even though I watered so much that my water bill was sky high. I guess I'm stuck with Bermuda :( Review: Is it worth it?. - Ok for the money.

Good coverage, fast growing
I ordered two bags of this seed last spring and had a decent beginning of a lawn a few months later. I started with pretty much just dirt and a couple trees and ended up with a nice covering, certainly not a lush lawn but something that looks like a lawn from the street, mows easily and grows quickly. I have an average sized front yard, about 60X30 and two bags of this seed did a good job. I'll add more this spring. What I especially liked about this particular seed is that it sprouted within a couple weeks and actually looked like grass within a month. The birds didn't eat much - I did cover it withloose soil - and it grows very well in the shaded area of my Oak and Sugar Maple. I let the seed go almost two months before cutting the first time in order to grow some deep roots and keep the mower deck up about 3" with a weekly trim during the summer and fall. We'll see how well it does after this Wisconsin winter it's first full year on the ground.

Wow!
We LOVE this grass seed! I had to talk my husband into it because he thought sod was the way to go, but I hate the look of sod and our neighbors who have sod have giant brown patches, some are even dirt patches. We cut back weeds that were growing in the area, but did not remove them just in case the grass did not take so we would have something green growing. Then we spread some peat moss over our sandy Florida soil. Not only did the grass grow in wonderfully, but it started popping up in just 3 days!!! I'm not sure what kind of grass it is since it is a very thin/fine blade, but it is gorgeous and green! After a week we cut it back and reseeded a few patches the birds must have eaten or may have shifted in the rain and those grew in great as well. We also took watering down to 2 times a day. It is the third week and it's about ready for another mowing, and we will continue to cut the watering down to once a day and then just a few times a week. We have absolutely no complaints and are completely thrilled that we now have a lawn we can be proud of! We now keep asking ourselves, "Why didn't we try this sooner?"

Beautiful Green Grass after Four Mostly Rainy Days - Got My Dog in Good Graces w Neighbor Again
Jonathan Green I LOVE YOU!!! So my golden retriever decides to dig a hole to China but his start point cannot just be my lawn, it has to be my neighbors. And the hole cannot be a small ordeal it has to be like 4 feet by 5 feet wide...[yes he did this is six minutes] and it looked like barren land for miles. I was sure I would pay to have it sodded promptly - but I bought this and within four days I had at least an inch of GREEN and bright beautiful green!! Within ten days it was a few inches at least in and within two weeks - plush stuff. Now I wonder why people even sod??? When you can have gorgeous green within a few weeks? No, not strong enough to mow...although he has stepped all over it looking for his entrance to the Orient [lucky that did not bother it].... Someone mentioned it took three weeks on here, but they were still happy. I am in Florida so maybe that is why it shot right up-and there was great on and off rain for three days.
