Wife has a collection of hair tools that get hot. They often come with a SMALL silicon mat to lay the item down on, but it's a hassle when using two or three of these tools on any given day and keeping those mats straight. . This mat is much larger and allows her to lay down up to three hair tools at once to let them cool down. Works great, cleans easily, and rolls up with a velcro tie when done. Good bang for the buck.

It looked like it would work perfectly for hair tools, unfortunately all my tool are extra long and I just couldn’t get it to work for them. Sadly returned.

Thin silicone mat protects bathroom counter from curling irons, etc hot surfaces. Came with a velcro strap which is not attached so you do have to keep track of it. mine had no smell and had nice smooth edges.

Inexpensive heat mat.It does protect counter but you can still feel the heat through the mat. I wouldn't roll it up for travel until hair styling tools have cooled.
