A Great Little Speaker for a Great Little Price
When I first came across this communications speaker I interpreted the phrase "7-watt" to mean there was a 7-watt amplifier built in. I was curious, though, because I could not find a description of how the amplifier was powered. All that was made crystal clear when I received the unit. There is no amplifier. The unit I had intended to connect this speaker to, a QRP Ham Radio Transceiver, barely delivers 0.1 watt of audio. Despite this, the Uniden BC-7 Communications Speaker performed quite admirably, delivering stronger audio than I have ever received before, including the use of headphones. And the stereo miniature phone plug feature was exactly what my transceiver required for a proper connection.Bottom Line: I'm quite satisfied. This is a great little speaker for a great little price.

Almost perfect, just needs tiny improvement
I use for an auxilliary speaker for my Cobra 29 CB. It is much easier to hear than the built in speaker, but it still has a bit of muffling and distortion. It is certainly a cheaper speaker inside the casing, but it works alright. If they went for a slightly better speaker to use, this would be a perfect 5 star piece. I'm very happy with it. I would still highly recommend this for the price. Cord seems fairly durable. Casing is very durable, I have beat mine up pretty roughly over the last several months of use, and it held up great. If the sound quality was a bit better, I'd happily give this 5 stars, but better sound quality is the main reason I bought it.

Works for me
Use it with tablet that has audio input, better sound than my old tablet. It mounts under dash.

Did not work with my BCD436HP
Nice compact speaker, however my Uniden BCD436HP was not strong enough to produce a loud voice through this speaker.

Works but very quiet
First time in 30 years i was unhappy with a uniden product. Regardless of the volume on the unit being used the volume out of the speaker is to quiet to use. Base usit is louder then rhe speaker being used

OK when used appropriately
This fairly compact 8-ohm extension speaker seems to work well when driven by a device that is designed to handle an 8-ohm load. This is a concern because its listing suggests it is for use with (all) Uniden scanners and radios - but several of those scanners don't have an "EXT.SPKR" output that is compatible with an 8-ohm speaker. Instead, they may have only a headphone jack - designed for perhaps a 32-ohm load, which therefore cannot drive the 8-ohm speaker fully, resulting in lower volume from this external speaker than from the scanner's internal speaker - sort of defeating the purpose. Apparently, an amplified speaker is needed for such scanners, rather than using this passive speaker. Misleading!

I'm a Uniden fan but this is a toy
The photos are always up close to show detail. The specs plainly state the size of the item. The price is appropriate for the size of the speaker. But still...the thing is tiny! Sound is tiny. It's a miniature of what I thought I was buying. It's just really small. I took it out of service and plugged in a Motorola speaker and began to wonder why I bought a toy. It matches the scanner I hooked it to. That's it. Uniden did not misrepresent this product in any way. Size matters.
