Great product but loses one star due to the lack of its technological use. Picture quality is superb but there is no sound or power to the device no matter what the instructions say for the product or tv’s manufacturer. In turn an Apple HDMI adapter is required for charging the device and getting sound from the tv.

Note for clarity, at the time I purchased this product the description was "USB Type C(Thunderbolt 3) to HDMI 4K UHD 6 Feet Cable, Benfei USB 3.1 (USB-C) to HDMI Adapter Male to Male Gold-Plated Cord".I'm updating my review based on new discoveries (I had some spare time so I started digging into this a little more, it seemed strange that my Thunderbolt 3 ports weren't working in HDMI alt mode which they do support). My 1 star review still stands, this product is unreliable and functionally broken; however, it does actually work with my HP Spectre x360 *but* only sometimes and if I leave it connected for 5-10 minutes first. If it doesn't detect the display within that 5-10 minute window then it never will; however, in about 1/20 attempts of unplugging/plugging it will decide to detect the display after letting it site for a few minutes.Given that this is a just a basic cable that is supposed instruct the laptop's GPU to use HDMI output over the USB-C connection it should work every time almost immediately (there is little to no setup or initialization like there is for an eGPU or a DisplayLink type device, but even those initialize in a few sections and work every time).My 1 star rating is due to the exceptionally poor quality of the product and its unreliable nature that renders it unfit for the purpose it was sold.Other Observations:* When connected an additional USB 3.0 and 2.0 root hub is detected. No other devices are connected to these hubs though. The display used does not have any USB ports/hub and these root hubs appear even if the HDMI end of the cable is left disconnected.* When a display is detected it is listed a DisplayPort display despite being an HDMI display connected via HDMI.
