This 990 EVO SSD (2TB) is an excellent upgrade for my laptop, especially after my OEM drive failed. I handle a lot of photography work, so having a high-capacity, high-speed SSD was essential, and this fits my need fantastically so far. Installation was quick and easy, the SSD was recognized right away after some driver installation, and formatted with no compatibility issues, even on my older laptop. Compared to the Kingston drive that originally came with my machine, the 990 EVO is definitely faster, with file transfers, boot times, and application loading all seeing noticeable improvements. The stated speeds of up to 5,000MB/s are about double my previous drive as well, so it seems on point, and read/write speeds overall are much better. The design and build quality feels reliable and less flimsy too. For 2TB of storage at this price point, especially from a trusted brand, it's a fantastic value. So far, it’s been performing flawlessly, and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone needing a performance and capacity boost.

This drive passed all initial tests and continues to work well. Definitely 10/10. This drive replaced an inferior quality drive an unscrupulous seller had installed in my laptop that crashed.

Super easy install, plug-n-play, just be careful, a light touch is best. Faster than old mechanical hard drives and even SSD hard drives, and it worked with my motherboard, no configuration needed.

Great ssd had in pc but wanted somethubg bigger. Put in my laptop which fully supported newer technology. Works well.

This was a great addition to my sons PS5 - very noticeable speed improvement and he loved all the extra storage.

The HDD that came with my computer was becoming a bottleneck for performance or either it was failing. The disk performance from task manager showed the disk pegged at 100% most of the time. My research indicated that replacing it with a SSD would solve my problem. I purchased this SSD, same size as my HDD and used the software that came with it to clone the HDD to the SSD (about 35 mins.) and made it the boot drive. The changing of the boot process was a little complicated and had to view many help videos to accomplish but finally did it. Don't get me wrong, it was an involved process but this old woman got it done! The difference is incredible. No more performance problems! My biggest gripe is that 2 weeks after I purchased it the price dropped and Amazon doesn't refund differences. So suck it up if that happens to you or buy elsewhere. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

I bought the Samsung EVO 990 2280 NVMe drive for my Elitedesk 800 G4 Mini, hoping it was backwards compatible with the Gen 3 PCIe bus in the machine. It is compatible and delivers great performance. I get about 3GB/s read speed on both drives in the machine (WD & Samsung). They max out the bus speed. These are slightly more pricey than the WD SSD's, but they are worth it if the MTBF rates I saw on review sites are correct. The Samsung EVO drives have about twice the MTBF of the similarly priced WD drives. That's worth the slight price difference to me. In this environment of PCIe 3x4 (not running full blast), it doesn't run hot at all. I'm hoping it will contribute to a long life. I'll report back if I have any early troubles but I'm not expecting any.
