what is fleece compared to flannel?

Fleece is polyester, but a very loose weave. It is exceedingly breathable and not clammy at all. I have both fleece and flannel lined jeans. The fleece lined jeans are significantly warmer and more enjoyable in the cold weather here in the mountains in NH.

are these warmer than sweatpants?

Very much so. I live in Whittier Alaska where the wind blows 35 to 90 miles an hour on a lot of days and I wear these all winter long. Without them the wind chill -20° would be unbearable

Do I need to purchase a larger size do to the lining?

The regular size fits me well except when I wear a lined shirt in the winter months, then the regular size for me is too tight in the waist. My suggestion is that if you wear lined or padded shirts in the colder months that you order the pants one or two sizes larger in the waist.

What is the deal , is Wrangler, discontinuing this style of jeans,finally I have found a great deal in pants,and I can't get them

with so many fat Americans(self included) I can't see why these would be discontinued.the quality has been discontinued but not the pants
