Melnor63280 Digital Hose Outlets Water Timer, 4-Zone

Great timer. Easy to program. Reliable. I like having the ability of two separate timers in one unit. Also like, and use often, the manual timer. Also easy to program. I have had this type of timer for years and love it. Living in the north, I remove batteries yearly for storage and replace with fresh every year to alleviate problems. Highly recommend.

We now have 4 of these timers running drip or soaker systems in our yard.

Starts out good using it but if you have to take it off a few times then the plastic pipe fitting strips out and water leaks everywhere and you can't use it anymore. I would not recommend. Needs to be made better with steel for the pipe fitting part. Your going to at some point take it off and then its going to strip out when you put it back on.

I purchased this to replace a 7 year old Melnor 4-zone controller (previous model). That model's biggest weakness was the battery, eventually it wouldn't power on at all with new batteries. But it lasted a long time and was reliable--and I was able to keep using it even with no power because it had manual on/off switches for each zone. For this one, "manual" is controlled by the computer...i.e. not usable in battery failure. Otherwise, user interface for programming is improved. I guess time will tell on the battery reliability.

So much easier to control than Orbit timers. The two outlet user interface is still better than this one, and I don't know why they did not stay with that. And the older model of the 4 outlet device had some funny kinks that you had to figure out by really reading the fine print in the manual. This one was very intuitive.

We bought this to water our tomatoes with soaker hoses. It works so fine and saves me so much time from having to water by hand. I used two 100' soaker hoses with it and it works like a champ!!!

Had some issues with valves stuck on after the winter. Support resolved, I had to run them in manual mode for 1 minute, then the valves switched back. Good to go.

Wasn’t wired properly at the manufacture. After pulling apart the tangled mess of wires for zones 3 & 4 and applying electrical tape to all of the wires so they weren’t all touching each other the timer worked as it should. If I need another 4 zone timer I would consider buying again. I have two other timers of a different make and they are both faster to program and quality seems on par with Melnor.

Leaked at the tap and leaked from the built-in tap connector. Got it down to just a few drips but as soon as you touched it, the water started sprouting out everywhere. Gave up and returned it.
