The Amerigel dressing worked wonderful on my toe wound after ingrown toenail surgery! My toe was almost completely healed in 4 days! I had been given aftercare instructions for my ingrown toenail from my doctor stating that I should soak my foot multiple times a day and apply antibiotic ointment. I did neither of these things, and simply just applied Amerigel dressing once a day with a band aid. I think the Amerigel worked better than the aftercare instructions would have! I have also tried the Amerigel on Venous leg ulcers. I used it for a few weeks and used around two tubes of it. It did help the venous leg ulcers but never fully healed them. I believe the ulcers were too advanced since they were almost at the point of bleeding. One important thing to keep in mind with this ointment is that even though it is expensive, a little bit goes a long way. Whatever amount of ointment you would normally use, just use half of this instead. I also found that this ointment works best if a non stick bandage is used with it. A nonstick bandage helps seal in some of the moisture with this ointment. One last thing tip is to cut the Amerigel tube open when you think it's empty, you'll notice that there is still a few days worth of ointment in the tube! PROS: • Speeds up healing times. • A little bit goes a long way. • Soothes sores. •The two pack has a significant savings. CONS: • Expensive Summed up, I would only recommend buying this ointment if you really want to speed things up on healing your wounds.If you aren't in hurry, then I believe just about any antibiotic ointment will do the same job as this Amerigel ointment. That being said, I still feel that for particularly troublesome wounds that this gel is priceless! It is a 5 star product and I definitely recommend it.
