Good content but unexpectedly expensive...
The content of the book is spot on for my class, but it is a bit of a difficult to read and has very few pictures. Its also insanely expensive compared to many other textbook options and I'm not sure why. Owning it cost more than both my physics and chemistry books combined and usually rentals are somewhere around the vicinity of $50/semester but this one cost twice as much! It was quite a hit to my wallet. For my class there was no other option or substitute, so I had to get this one. Like I said, the content is great and informative! Just so dang pricey, even to rent!

Not for the faint readers
For someone who is EXTREMELY interested in the field of Ichthyology this is a great book. Unfortunately I felt as if the reading was pulled from a medical science text and at times I thought I was in med school. It's that in depth with the terminology. There are a lot of diagrams but drawings don't cut it when dealing with fish in general, or at least the way this book describes the physiology of fish. I'm still giving 3 stars as it does have good value and it could be used as reference material.
