4.5 actually
Pros: Large enough diameter, even for my size 13+ feet. Well built - the rubber bladder is heavy/durable, the plastic platform is thick and sturdy. Standing on it is no problem, even at 240 lbs. Yes, even though they for understandable reasons recommend not standing on it with the curved side down, it works well (it is how I do it at PT on the instruction of the therapist. Of course, one should do it in a hall way or door opening for obvious safety reasons. They give you two air hole fill plugs which is nice for when you lose one of them. Thoughtful. Neutral: Don't overinflate it. There is an 8" line on the shipping box as a guide. In fact, a bit lower than that might be better. The one I use at PT seems a bit cushier and I will be inquiring about this there when I go for my last visit Monday. Cons: The instructions are minimal and only written on the box. If you are challenged in this area, well... The BIG negative is the pump. A small hand pump pushing feebly about 6 cubit inches of air to fill a huge heavy bladder. Ridiculous. Fact is, if I actually only had that to fill it I would return it. It is nearly the 4th of July as I write this, I might finish by Labor Day with the supplied device. They could easily supply an adequate small electric pump to fill it for only a few dollars more, one would think. Why supply a quality product with an inadequate one to fill it? What I did was use a small 2 1/2 gallon electric air compressor that I only use for filling lawn mower tires with a rubber tipped blow nozzle (lever operated) to fill the bladder and when at the proper height I stuck my finger in the hole until I could get the plug and insert it without losing too much air. No, you cannot use a bicycle pump as there is just a 1/8" diameter fill hole with nothing to attach the pump hose to like a schrader valve or presta valve. SO, IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MEANS TO EASILY FILL THIS NICE PRODUCT YOU MIGHT WANT TO RECONSIDER THOUGH OTHER MANUFACTURERS PROBABLY HAVE THE SAME DEFICIENCY. I found the small hand pump useless and frustrating beginning to fill it, and I cannot imagine using it when the bladder is somewhat full and there is some pressure to overcome.

The Living Room is Now a Wobbly Wonderland (and My Core is Confused!)
Fellow fitness adventurers and those who occasionally trip over their own feet, let me introduce you to the BOSU NexGen Half Ball Balance Trainer. I saw this thing and thought, "A wobbly dome? How hard can that be? It's just half a ball!" My balance, apparently, heard this and decided to stage a protest. When this arrived, it was exactly as advertised: half a ball on a sturdy base. It looked innocent enough. I inflated it (which, side note, the included pump makes surprisingly easy, no lung-bursting required), and set it down. It just sat there, looking like a large, slightly smug mushroom. Stepping onto it for the first time was... an experience. It's like the floor suddenly decided to become a trampoline that's also on a boat during a mild earthquake. My ankles immediately started doing a frantic chicken dance, and my core muscles, which I previously thought were just decorative, suddenly woke up in a panic. It was less "graceful balance exercise" and more "me trying desperately not to fall over while questioning all my life choices." BUT. And this is a gloriously wobbly BUT. It's incredibly effective! Standing on this thing forces every tiny stabilizing muscle in your body to engage. Squats become a whole new level of challenging. Push-ups? Forget about it (okay, maybe not forget, but they're significantly harder and make you feel like a superhero when you manage one). I've started doing lunges on it, which is basically a masterclass in controlled falling. The "NexGen" part with the textured quadrants is actually really helpful for grip and knowing where your feet are (crucial when you're concentrating this hard on not toppling over). It feels incredibly durable and stable, even when I'm wobbling like a human bobblehead. If you want to seriously challenge your balance, strengthen your core in ways you didn't know were possible, and add a healthy dose of unpredictable fun to your workouts, this BOSU ball is fantastic. It's a versatile tool that can make even basic exercises feel brand new and excitingly difficult. My core is confused but appreciative, and my living room is now a place where wobbling is not only accepted but encouraged. I'm thoroughly impressed with this bouncy challenge.

Great product and the real deal!
BOSU is fantastic! I had an issue with my product and they were super helpful and responsive and fixed the issue. Their products are solidly made and make for a great functional workout. I will warn others who like doing barefoot squats and are used to their commercial gym products, the Home Trainer is made similarly great but does have six feet on the bottom (flat) platform to keep it from sliding in a home. This difference from their commercial products can be a bit painful on the human foot, if barefoot. See their smooth bottom Pro Model if this affects you too: https://www.amazon.com/BOSU-Half-Ball-Training-Equipment-Diameter/dp/B07LGCM3WC?

This item does not hold air do not recommend
We purchased 2 of these and have had trouble getting them to hold air. They’re constantly needing to be refilled. There is no hole in them, but they don’t seal correctly or somehow they leak air. We’ve had the worst trouble with these. I do not recommend.

A little problem right out of the box
A little problem right out of the box 1st: I noticed that the edge of the rubber wasn’t properly seated with the plastic channel. Solution I did was to pump it up 80% and used a flat head screw driver to gently seat it back in place. 2nd: It would have been nice to have the product wrapped in plastic inside of the box. The manual pump worked fine as expected. Came with 2 plugs hidden inside. So far good 6/28/26

IDEAL BALANCE TRAINER FOR ANY AGE
This Nexgen Balance Trainer is the perfect answer to treating my sciatica in both legs. I can use both sides of the BOSO to practice better balancing techniques, then I can lie down on my exercise mat and lie across the dome to stretch my side and leg muscles and joints. I first discovered the benefits of a BOSU Balance Trainer when I was going to physical therapy to try to improve movement due to the pain of my sciatica. When I first laid across their BOSU Trainer, I experienced stretching and follow-up pain relief that I had not found doing anything else! I went home from that PT session and ordered my own BOSU Trainer. It was a snap to inflate and start using. Oh, by the way, I should tell you that I'll be 80 yo in December, and I expect this great exercise equipment wil help me age in much better shape.

Leaks air
First time using it you can hear it hissing air out. Why would you make a product that leaks air? Seems like it is by design. They tell you on the box to only fill it a little. But then its too flat. I dont get it. Will be returning it and buying another one jist to see if it was just this one, or if someone actually thought it was a good design concept to make a ball that leaks air.
