A Revealing Insight
I bought this book via the Kindle store. It has given me an insight into a world that I knew very little about, but wanted to clear up pre-held misconceptions. This it did.It was easy to read, I enjoyed the way it was written and felt both sympathy and empathy for the author. It held nothing back and I would commend it as far better than the American counterpart from Jen Angell. Both are graphic and the risk of getting into the hard drug scene too vivid. Trying to strike the balance between 'work' and 'play' and 'education' shows the pressures the girls are under. It is definitely a worthwhile read, if only to demonstrate that as a profession there will always be a demand for'professional services'- and there are those who will always have the money to pay for them.

Just another day at the office....
This book, based on a blog, is interesting as a documentary of how the other half lives (especially now that Belle's identity has been revealed and we know that she really was a call girl), the soft underbelly of London etc etc, but not really as a work of literature. I dipped into it but couldn't read it straight through. It's reasonably well written, but it's not a novel (no real plot to get you hooked - sorry about the pun). Readers looking for porn or erotica will also be disappointed. Most of the diary entries are not in fact about Belle's work as a call girl but about her private life (friends, family, boyfriend etc), which is not what most of us are buying the book for. But then again, what can you write about a hooker's encounters with clients without slipping into porno descriptions of sex? One meeting with a client is pretty much like another. That's the main thing I took from the book: being a call girl is just another job, about as exciting and varied as office work (but more flexible and paying more).Frustratingly, Belle doesn't answer many of the questions I would like to ask her: doesn't too much sex take away your enjoyment of sex (like eating your favourite meal five times a day), did she ever have problems with really abusive unpleasant or threatening clients, how much did she charge per hour (and how much was for the agency, how much for her). But it's enjoyable enough light reading, and I found Belle's cheerfully cynical attitude to life very attaching (probabably obligatory if you are a call girl ;-)PS Somebody please tell her that in French you don't use "le" in the date: Friday the 12 of May is vendredi 12 mai. If you're going to be pretentious, don't fluff it.

I purchased this book in 2011
I purchased this because at the time I was watching secret diaries of a call girl and apparently the tv series was based on this book.I never ever got around to reading it. To tell you the truth, I don't even know where this book is !!!

Secret Diary of a Call Girl [paperback]
I must be honest and say that although I bought this as a gift for a friend I just couldn't resist reading it first - just out of curiosity you understand! The book is not at all pornographic but well written, humorous, and entertaining. If you watched the TV series starring Billie Piper you will see precisely where the storylines originated. To fully appreciate the book you really need to Google the author to discover her reasons for being a call girl and her life since - maybe one day the subject of another book.On a chilly winter evening with a glass of wine and a good fire most men will find this book titillating whilst their wives or girlfriends will, at first, dismiss it as "porn" but then avidly read it from cover to cover!

Overrated
This book was recommended to me by a good friend. I found it incredibly monotonous, disjointed and found no likeable qualities, empathy or interest in the main character. I feel like I was missing something.. it just bored me and I struggled through just in the hope it would improve.

Refreshing book!
I decided to read Belle's books after I saw the TV show... I must admit the book is edgier and blunter. I loved the series but they are really different from the book - I prefer the book, of course.Although it is mostly about Belle's personal life, the parts about the job are amazing as she describes her clients and their fantasies and ways. I recommend it, but only if you do not expect all of it to be written by a working girl cause it's mostly just about a sexy, adventurous woman who lives in london.
