Perfect remote for seniors with cognitive or eyesight issues
We bought this for my wife's mother who is in early stages of dementia and gets easily confused. The Spectrum set top box remote has about 800 buttons on it (ok, probably more like 50), but they're all very small and most aren't needed for daily viewing. This remote was perfect. It has just the volume, channel, and power buttons, and it was programmable to her TV (TCL with Roku built in) and her Spectrum set top box. There was even an option to have the power button only turn off the TV rather than both the TV and the set top box, which is a nice feature, since turning off both can cause the infamous "sync" issue if they move the remote during the power-on/off sequence for multiple devices. The only nit I had was in the programming. I tried all the codes for the TCL/Roku TV and none worked initially. Later I discovered that after putting it in programming mode, I was pressing the 4 code digits too quickly in sequence. I had to wait until each one made the light blink. Once I slowed down and paused for a second between each number press, the code worked properly. I set it up so the volume button works with the TV and the channel button works with the set top box. It's going to be great for her since she has historically had difficulty with her TV remote due to her easy confusion and her degrading eyesight. The designer(s) did a great job with this -- hiding the keypad so it's out of sight for programming only, and keeping only the basic buttons visible. Also, the volume and channel buttons being different colors just adds to the ease of remembering which color goes with which function, especially as eyesight fades. The instructions were also clear and well written, which is uncommon these days. I also saw a video demonstrating how to program it, and it was concise and easy to follow. This is the kind of device I would design if I wanted to create my own custom remote for someone with my mother-in-law's condition. Thank you for creating it. The price is a bit higher than some other "senior" remotes on Amazon, but the others had extraneous buttons and didn't appear to be as easy to program for multiple devices, or used the same color for all the buttons. Or the buttons were smaller and closer together, making it easier to mis-press. I think this is the "best-of-breed" in this arena, and so I decided to pay the premium price as I was confident it would "just work" the way I expected it to... and it did. I would highly recommend spending the few extra dollars to get this remote over less expensive knock offs. You do get what you pay for in this case, and it's worth it.

Perfect for those with dementia!
This remote is exactly what I needed for my Mother with dementia. With very simple programming, It is able to adjust TV channels in DIRECTV box, allow only her favorite channels, adjust volume on TV and turn off TV with just 3 buttons. Prior to this remote, she could not use remotes without assistance. When the memory care center, that is taking care of my Mother, saw this remote, they were so impressed they decided to order one for each resident. Great product!

Perfect fit
Absolutely fantastic find for my 91 year old mother! The remote she was given for her tv in her nursing home was very complicated and this makes life so much easier for her. Very easy to program in about five minutes. And due to her vision loss the big buttons are a God send.

Best Gadget Ever!!
The best device ever!!!! My dad has dementia and this remote makes it easy for him to work his TV. These should be in every dementia personโs hands. Cannot say enough good things about this. My only thing I would add, would be adding in different colors. This white one looks like his telephone and sometimes he gets them confused. Easy instructions for someone to program for them.

Keep working with it and you will figure it out. Easy for my dad to use.
So glad to have this product for my dad. It was hard for me to figure out how to turn the IR on the Dish. I had to push the home button twice to get to that menu but it didn't say that part anywhere. Also, for the STB none of codes work for DISH in assisted living, maybe it is different for a personal home. I had to figure out that the lighting there was interfering with the IR signal during set up so it took a few factory resets to figure out all of this. I did also have to remind him to hold the remote pointed lower as he had it pointed above the tv. His receiver is located behind the tv. But at least he is no longer without tv like when he would accidentally push a button that took him off of cable. The director of the facility knew it would be helpful for other seniors living there. I took a picture of the version he has.

Got it working using Learn mode....eventually.
Overall, I got it to do what i needed. I have a unique situation where I need the power/mute/volume buttons to control the tv and the channel buttons to control another device (the player sending video over hdmi). So, the only way to achieve this "split device" situation is to use the "learn" mode to assign codes to buttons individually. The process for button "learn" are straight forward in the included instructions. However, the "learn" does not always succeed for the button. I had to try many, many times. I eventually had to program one button at a time and keep redoing "learn" process over and over and testing the button until there was success. Then move to the next button. Maybe there was other IR light in the room interfering with the programming(?). It did seem to work more reliably if during programming I shielded the Flipper device from all other light besides the remote i was using to program. I almost gave up until i got one button to program and then realized i needed to just keep trying and testing until it worked. Because of this frustration, I'm deducting a star. Otherwise, this is great for my elderly mother who can't deal with complex remotes. I do like the way the more advanced buttons have a sliding cover. My mom doesn't know they are there, so she can't accidently mess things up. It's also nice that the battery cover has a hole for a screw so the batteries don't get removed or fall out when dropped. However, I didn't see a screw included in my package. So instead i just used packing tape to cover the battery case and got the same effect. The remote I was using for the "learn" mode was a Samsung tv remote that's probably 10+ years old. Maybe the Samsung IR codes are more challenging to learn...idk?

Awesome remote
This remote is awesome. It quickly found my tv, no fumbling with multiple codes to program it. Best part is that my dad, who has some dementia, has zero issues using it. It's perfect. Three buttons, no confusion.

Good idea but disappointing
Got this for my 95 year old mom, hoping it would be easy for her, but it frustrates her. You can program your favorites, we put in about 20, however they don't progress up and down in numerical order. I honestly can't tell how they are reordered. It is also very slow with Xfinity box. Sometimes the "next" channel changes and sometimes it doesn't, and only will show what the next channel is going to be on the screen. This confuses my mom and she starts pushing up or down over and over, and it jumps all over the place. It will end up on a channel we haven't programmed, which baffles me. Then it goes up and down from there. It will also change from normal channel to the "HD" number, again I can't see why. If our PBS channel is regular 2, and HD 200, for example, and I programmed in "2", it will open it (sometimes?) as 200. Maybe that's how the number progression gets off? Also you lose the ability to see the guide. On off works great, and volume works well, so there's that. It's a good idea, seems to be the only one on the market, but there are some flaws.

Helps those with limited sight
This has worked perfectly with Mumโs Samsung TV. Itโs essential for her as she has limited sight and hand dexterity. She can now control the tv on her own.

really great product for elderly folks confused by complicated tv remotes and new "smart" tech
While trying to navigate the Flipper set up on my own was quite difficult and frustrating, as soon as I contacted customer support they responded within hours (on a long weekend Friday night!) and their solution worked perfectly. My mother has dementia and has really struggled with the TV and Cable box set up over the past year. Being able to integrate the specific features I wanted from both devices into a single, very easy to use remote control is literally life changing for us. I have programmed her favourite 10 channels in to the Flipper, so all she has to do is cycle through those 10 channels to find something she likes, without needing to remember channel numbers, or sift her way through the hundreds of channels available through our cable subscription. I set this up on her bedroom tv, I am considering getting a second one for her living room. The set up is complicated on your own, but the support team were great, and it is absolutely worth it in the end. (set up was a Sony Bravia TV with a Pace Shaw/Rogers cable box in BC Canada, for reference).

Really easy to set up
It works! Comes with a book of codes that made set up easy if youโve lost the original remote.
