Merrell Men's Chameleon 5 Waterproof Hiking Shoe

It's my first pair hiking shoe as I'm just getting into hiking/backpacking, so I don't have any previous experiences with this type of shoes. The built quality is great, very sturdy vibram outsole that won't slip or bend when stepped on rocks. Large toe box with plenty wiggle room for my toes. which is a plus. Since the shoe is waterproof, it feels a bit warm when hiking for a long period of time in the summer, the ventilation was not the greatest, and I have't encounter any wet situation so I can test out its waterproof ability. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this pair and looking forward to wear them to my Grand Canyon trip later this year.

Ordered size 10.5 and they were too small. Surprised since I normally wear a 10 and ordered these half size larger and yet they still were too small. I returned to Amazon and reordered size 11 and just received...they seem to fit, but I'll need to wear for a couple weeks until final evaluation. Very easy to return to Amazon and I called vendor about sizing and they were helpful. Looks like a good shoe for hiking and plain old walking.It's been a few weeks now and overall I am happy with these shoes....good solid shoes that so far have been excellent in keeping my feet dry. They are heavy duty shoes with lots of stability. The only issue I have so far is that the design includes a rough spot on the inside of the show that rubs my upper foot. I wear a heavy sox and have to be careful to position the tongue of the shoe just right so the rough spot doesn't rub my foot.

These are versatile shoes. They are very comfortable and the build quality is top-notch.These shoes were pricey, I cannot remember buying more expensive shoes. But they are worth it. The fit is extremely comfortable and you can tell they will last a long time.Merrells have a 1 year warranty too. I had another Merrell pair that ripped after about 5 months of daily wear. I bought these shoes to use while the other pair got replaced. After filling out a form and sending a picture to Merrell of the damage, I was able to exchange the other pair pretty easily.So in summary, these are great shoes and Merrell stands behind their products for a whole year. You cannot go wrong with this brand.

I had the Chameleon and it was a wonderful hiking shoe. I started looking for another (after I wore a hole in the sole) but all I found was the Chameleon 4 and the reviews were spotty, till I found the Chameleon 5 and read it's reviews. The reviews seemed promising so I took a chance that the fit would be similar to my old Chameleons and it was. Love these shoes. Fit is great, they look great and so far (which hasn't been long) they are holding up well. Love these shoes!

This pair were my fourth pair of Chameleon, but they did not fit the same as previous versions, I have Chameleon 2 and 3 versions.The length and width measured the same, but my heel slipped out of the shoe when walking.Also, the height of the shoe must be lower, as I could barely close the shoe over the tongue to lace up the shoe.I don't have a particularly high foot, and my other Merrell Chameleon fit great, so I think there must have been a change in the shoe with this 5th incarnation.

Good shoes but a little tight and slippery on wet surfaces.AFTER TWO MONTHS OF USE A LOOP HOOK POPPED OUT -- POOR CONSTRUCTION!

These are superb shoes. I was wearing them around the house, doing chores, walking the dogs. They were stellar until the pit pup got ahold of them and chewed off some of the tongue and the heel support. That being said I still wear them! They are nice and light, very supportive, good grip in dry conditions, less so in wet conditions. I would buy them again, wish the price were a bit lower.

Merrell shoe is a reputable product. I did wear Merrell shoes before. However, it is very disappointed that this one I bought had a design problem, I believe.The interior fabrication left a stick out on two sides of the upper interior that scratches my foot to the point that it hurt me.As a 71 years old I never had a pair of shoe caused me this type of problem. I returned the shoe right away after wearing it for onlyabout 10 minutes.
