This is concise, organized, and easy to read and has a lot of great advise on how to manage your first year as a new nurse or nurse new to medsurg.

I am currently working as a new grad two months in and I wish I read this sooner! It was a quick read but had vital info to help any new grad

McGee is short, sweet, and straight to the point. The book was easy to read and it had so many valuable pieces of advice. For new grads, working the floor can seem daunting and overwhelming. It’s crucial to have accessible resources and mentors to guide you. McGee did a wonderful job encouraging readers while realistically preparing them for the heavy workload in med-surg. The goals he outlines for your first year are reasonable and completely doable. If you would like to instill confidence in yourself as a new nurse, I would wholeheartedly recommend this book. This book was a quick read. Although I'm a seasoned nurse, it was still very helpful. I would definitely recommend this book to other med-surg nurses. In fact, I've gifted one to a new nurse on our unit. Get one for yourself and a friend. You won't regret!
