Billet Aluminum Soft Top Latch Rebuild Kit for Geo Tracker/Suzuki Sidekick (with springs)

I was skeptical when I ordered the rebuild kit as I had always just replaced the entire latch in the past. I liked the fact that the new parts were aluminum and not the standard plastic. I watched the short install video, and then replaced the parts. The entire rebuild process probably took me less than 10 minutes, and that included watching the video. The latches worked just as they should. So far I am impressed.

This is the second time I've had to replace those little clips on the Geo Tracker, so I got these aluminum ones, and they are very good. They're indestructible, and should last forever. Pretty easy to install, and fit right. More expensive than plastic, but all the plastic on that Geo Tracker gets brittle.

..but that's fine. The pieces fit past the stop/ridge in the plastic latch. That is excellent. The pieces bow a bit when squeezed together, but that is to be expected with no guide for the spring. The OEM unit does the same thing. Re: 'Expensive for tiny pieces' I've had aluminum machined to this profile specifically to replace the plastic OEM pieces. That machine work got me a length of the profile, but I still had to drill the latches to accommodate the push pin (a roll pin..that I bought) and spring retaining hole. Believe me, that was a LOT more expensive than buying these already made-to-fit pieces. If these are too expensive for your taste, make your own! You won't care for what THAT costs.

The instructions on the kit are poor, but once you figure out what they are telling you it was easy and works great

I was boring of the broken plastic pieces. With this product I finally changed it for a solid aluminium well done spare. They fit perfect and it hooks as well as the original when it was new.
