Overall: Good solid construction. Would happily buy again. Pros: + Feels durable + Easy to assemble and use + Power Indicator is a nice touch + Very small and portable + Good value for money + Handy strap to loop through body of enclosure + Came with small screwdriver (very thoughtful) + Extra screws provided (1 of each) + Fast speed vs. form factor for the M.2 NVMe you decide to install (this is only the case/enclosure). Cons: - Thermal pad is provided and is a bit hard to apply as it looked like mine came somewhat precut in squares. I assume that is to help size the pad correctly. However, this means that you likely will end up with clean cut breaks in the thermal compound over the memory controller of your M.2 NVMe. For those who are more particular, you may want to opt to purchase your own thermal pad Considerations: * As others have mentioned, if you are writing files for a long period, you will need to let the device cool for a few minutes before resuming your writing/copying (I was cloning a 500Gb drive). This behavior happens for all M.2 SSDs of this size and is not related to this product. * Using an infrared thermometer, the peak temps I reached after intense file copying was ~60.5C and moderate copying reached ~44C. I found the aluminum body does cool quickly, however it’s important to avoid touching the body for too long. Overall, great product and will happily purchase again.

So far, I haven't had any problems with this enclosure. I've been testing it with a Seagate Firecuda 2TB NVMe SSD (2230) and, in most usage (transfers under 40GB), it doesn't get very hot. My use case is Carbon Copy Cloner to copy a 1TB Mac system disk. After an initial copy of 310GB, most copies are now around 5GB, with occasional copies around 30GB. 5GB clones usually complete in under 30 seconds (about 170MBps). In a pure speed test with Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, I get 900MBps write and 860MBps read. These are pretty respectable numbers, considering that the USB-C interface on this enclosure is spec'ed to run at 10Gbps (about 1000MBps). If you're doing a very large operation (copying a 200GB file, for example) the enclosure and the SSD will get very hot. It's imperative to use the included heat-transfer pads. In one very large operation (over 300GB) it was getting too hot (in my estimation). So at first I was pausing the operation every 10GB to let it cool a bit, but eventually wrapped it in a layer of moist paper towel sitting on an ice pack. It stayed cooler than room temp and completed the operation in record time without problems. I won't have a need to do anything like that for a long time, so I'm quite pleased with this enclosure for the moment. If I could improve anything, it would be to make it even smaller: Does it need the key ring opening for cooling? Could the 27.9mm dimension be made smaller? Otherwise, it's a solid, well-made enclosure. I'll update this review if I encounter any problems. The only other very small enclosures I've tried run at similar speed, but are a tiny bit larger in the long dimension (but a bit slimmer and narrower).

Was looking for an enclosure for my Steam Deck SSD after replacing mine with a 1TB SSD. Chose this product for it’s size, the fact that it was designed exclusively for a 2230 SSD, the inclusion of a screwdriver for this device, and due to having seen another review of someone using this enclosure specifically for a Steam Deck SSD. This kit includes everything one would need to install your SSD and more. The extra inclusion of a strap for the enclosure, plenty of extra thermal pads, both a USB-C to USB-A (3.0) cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable, and an extra screw in case of stripping or losing the original one was greatly appreciated. This kit is a great value for the money in my opinion. My computer had zero issues recognizing this device. Once plugged in, I went into disk management and deleted all the extra partitions that were created on my SSD for the Steam Deck, added a new partition, and formatted the drive. After this, I was able to easily and quickly transfer my files from my PC to my SSD. My only minor criticism is that the included instructions were exclusively written in Chinese. Although this was a bit disappointing, I was easily able to use my phone’s translator camera feature to translate and review the instructions. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this enclosure for anyone looking for an enclosure for their Steam Deck’s SSD or simply for anyone in need of a 2230 SSD enclosure.

This thing is awesome. The only thing I would improve on is possibly better cooling, 'cause it runs really hot, which might trigger thermal throttling of performance. But that's to be expected with such a small enclosure. I honestly don't know how better cooling would be accomplished without sacrificing the compact size of this unit. I'd rather keep the throttle to stay at this size. It only gets super hot when doing larger data read/write operations. I have installed whole OS (Windows 11) booting on a Steam Deck and it runs great. Runs just as fast as the built-in SSD.

Unlike a few other options available, this enclosure very importantly does not disconnect when it gets too hot. It instead, correctly throttles the NVME and slows down the file transfers, as it should. Fair warning though, this enclosure wicks heat away from the drive quite quickly and this causes the enclosure to heat up to rather uncomfortable (near-scorching) temperatures. Note: The less than 10Gbps transfer speed was likely more a factor of my computer's USB-C port.

Nice tiny little enclosure. Attach the loop as instructed and, along with the magnetic cap, you have a tidy and secure unit always at the ready.

It's perfect but a little heavy weight i think because of its weight it's not made of 100% aluminum and its smaller than i expected. It's really good i haven't regreted buying it at all except i don't think its 100% made of aluminum

Es muy bueno es realmente pequeño para transferencias grandes recomiendo ponerle algo fresco para evitar que se caliente demasiado, el conector usb c es un poco más largo de lo normal pero eso ayuda si lo vas a conectar a un celular o iOS con funda pues ya no tendrás que retirarla en general es genial y pequeño

Ho acquistato questa enclosure NVME 2230 per avere sempre con me 1TB di spazio e devo dire che sono rimasto estremamente soddisfatto. La qualità costruttiva è eccellente: il case è in alluminio, solido e ben rifinito, con un design super compatto che facilita il trasporto senza occupare spazio. L’installazione del NVME è stata semplicissima anche grazie al cacciavite incluso nella confezione e non ho avuto alcun problema: basta svitare le 2 vitine, inserire l’SSD, fissarlo e richiudere. Le prestazioni sono davvero ottime, con velocità di trasferimento elevate e stabili, ideali sia per backup veloci che per utilizzare l’SSD come disco esterno quotidiano come faccio io con il mio S25 Ultra. Devo dire che si scalda abbastanza durante i trasferimenti di file di grosse dimensioni, non tanto da scottarsi ma per fare il suo lavoro di dissipazione resta caldo per qualche minuto anche dopo aver finito. Un altro punto a favore è la compatibilità: ha funzionato subito sia su Windows che su Android, senza driver aggiuntivi. In sintesi, è un prodotto che offre ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo, perfetto per chi vuole dare nuova vita a un SSD 2230 inutilizzato o creare un’unità esterna veloce e portatile. Consigliatissimo!
