Odor Removal

I purchasedw this litter box because the description says it takes most clumping litter including tofu litter. The manual says to use tofu litter the scooper needs to be changed and to visit the LaLa store to purchase one. This is very irritating since it wasn’t clear in the item description that I’d need to purchase an additional scoop and the tofu scoop isn’t listed on the site.Upon first scoop, 90% of the litter was pushed into the waste bin making it an ineffective product especially considering the very high price.I was excited to receive and set up The Real Scooper since it seemed like a good design, however, I feel swindled after contacting the company and their chat response was to use mineral litter. I don’t want to use mineral litter for environmental and cat health issues. This was a waste of my time.

LaLa Home reached out and resolved my issue by devising a urine guard for the tray! And it worked!!So very happy with this unit now! Once you figure out the litter you need to use to best address your cat’s “proclivities”, this is one smooth running self-cleaning litter box! Programming is reliable and reboots easily resolve “user errors” (like a big dog paw stepping up to investigate)! Now with an effective urine guard, the weekly duty is simply to change the bag and complete minor wipe downs!To correct my previous post - I do have a purple light. It is sanitizing and deodorizing properly.Of course with my cat, I do have to add absorbex to the bag periodically to absorb the urine - ooh such an easy job now to provide a safe and sanitary loo for my furbaby!!Thank you LaLaHome for your responsiveness and fix! Plan to enjoy this automated litter box for a long time and will buy again in future!!A very happy customer!Purchased 2/24 - I am only giving 3 stars right now as I am still trying to make it work! Litter selection is paramount - if your furbaby has prolific pee, you need a fast and hard clumper! After many tries, a mix of Arm&Hammer Clump&Seal Slide and Absorbex works for me. I throw in some green tea tofu for odor control - but will not absorb urine. My 11lb Maine Coon mix has always been a “non-turner” in that his tail is always outside the box which translates to side or edge spill! In this autobox, his urine flow is at the front and flows thru the opening between the rotating cover and litter trap - accumulating where the litter bags would be stored and under the unit. Ewww! Very smelly very quick! I have tried many unsuccessful “fixes” from underneath to move the urine directly to the bag and am now working on creating a “urine guard” from above. Working with the rake is challenging! Until I fix the urine containment, I don’t know if the UV and odor control works - I do not have a “purple” light so am not sure that the white light indicates UV? Also - the unit often sticks on “cat in” and I have to unplug/replug to reset. The unit is level, but that constant reset check and having to sprinkle litter at front after each use does not put me off this unit! If I can find a way to fix the urine leak and ensure the UV is sterilizing the litter - then this autobox will be a winner for me and my kitty boy’s health! Will update rating with fixes. If anyone has experienced and solved the urine leak issue, please post!!

Overall I still think this is the best option out there for auto litter boxes however that being side there are a few things it could and needs to do alot better for the price.1. The rack is terrible its has way to big of spaces and leaves alot of little unwanted items in there that I have to scope out with a normal scope or my cats stop using the box2. The actual litter box/trey is very small for how big this entire unit is it should provide much more room for your cat to actually do its thing.That's are the two major issues or concerns I have about the item. Everything seems great. My cats do use it. I did have to use a normal litter box for about a week though to help them get use to it but once they were its now the only box in the house.The cat approaching detection is spot on and very sensitive which is good! You want to protect your cats at all cost! Their safety is number 1! It will stop all process if and when it detects your cat.Overall good but way to expensive right now for what it is. Its a great concept that has tons of areas it could approve for both the cats and your own experiences better.

I ordered this unit for the many reasons. The price value, the litter compartment, Phone app maintenance and the sleek look and quietness. My only issue is the rake. Litter piss balls will get stuck in rake, so you do have to clean it often for its full function. East litter tray to remove, as well as front compartment where used litter falls into disposable bag. Easy to replace bags, fairly easy to deep clean the unit. I also like the safety issue which detects when cat approached litter for use, it will stop the "rake" function of the litter so the cat won't get caught up in it. Bags are also affordable, and you can work the unit from the machine itself or your phone. My cat used it right away, no scare issues with her.

For the price, it does not auto refill, it does not reduce the smell, it does not connect to my wifi, it does not make anything easier. I still need to manually clean it everyday because it does not get everything. It smells so much worse than having a regular litter box. I strongly suggest you keep looking for a better box.I would like to return this item because it does not do many of the advertised features.
