how do you manage the cable coming out of the PC, do you take off a mounting slot just for the button, or any other good ideas?

The wire is thin enough to come out of the back of my pc. The button itself is magnetic and can mount to the pc case or like mine it’s mounted to my desk frame by magnet

Is the keycap removeable? I would like to use my own keycap.

Yes, I just hand pulled mine off. It is a mechanical key, and the keycap has an "x" type indent to put a different keycap on if you wish to replace the white one it comes with.

Can you swap out the keycap for a custom one?

Yes, the key cap can be removed and replaced with another one
