I started using this after some of my plants started melting back pretty hard during the first couple weeks of setup. I wasn’t expecting much right away but within a week or so I started seeing new growth on the Monte Carlo and even the crypts perked up. It’s easy to dose and doesn’t mess with water clarity or anything like that. I’m not running a super high-tech tank, just moderate light and CO2, and this seems to be doing the job without overdoing it. The bottle lasts a while too. Not much else to say—it works and my plants look way better now than they did before I added it. This bottle also has some nutrients that something like api leaf zone (which is what I used before) lacked. I think that's what made my plants green again. May your plants flourish!

My plants absolutely love this stuff and it is so easy for me to use. I admit I am pretty forgetful and lazy when it comes to fertilizing, so the Thrive line of liquid fertilizers are right up my alley. I have several low tech, heavily planted tanks and I definitely noticed a difference in my overall plant health within a week of using this stuff. This is like plant crack ;P I have new growth everywhere and my floating plants are going bananas, which is good news for my trio of goldfish. The 3 little piggies love to nom on the trimmings.For those with invertebrates: My amanos, nerites, and bamboo shrimp do just fine dosing this, the original version of Thrive. I do my 25-30% water changes about every other week. I do dose more than the amount recommended for low tech setups, but I also spread the dosage out over 4 days instead of dosing all at once. My tanks are heavily planted riparium style with both emergent and submerged growth, quick growing vals, swords, crypts, and out of control floaters. They are understocked critter wise and I have a hard time keeping even my nitrates above zero. Your mileage may vary, of course.If your tank is lightly planted with mostly slow growers like anubias, mosses, and java fern, my schedule is not going to work for you. Everybody’s tanks are different, so you need to use your best judgement and figure out what works best in your tank. I can only share what works for me in my situation. :) In my opinion though, as long as you have an etablished, adequate sized, and healthy growing plant mass, and keep up on your water changes, I don’t forsee a problem with the low dose of copper in this fertilizer harming invertebrates.NilocG Aquatics also makes a shrimp specific fertilizer, Thrive S, for those that are still worried. I have used that one in the past for the greater part of a year and it works pretty darned well. I would think it might work especially well for overstocked tanks where one might have a problem with nitrates building up (it adds a lower level of N with each dose).

I have many different types of plants in my aquarium. This fertilizer is an all in one and works well. I have been using this product line for a couple of years and I love their ferts. If you want an easy fertilizer that you can dose weekly, this is the one.

So this stuff has worked great and I definitely recommend. Plants really took off once I started using, and I wasn’t even using as often as bottle stated. Used off and on with zero problems for couple months.That said, as a novice to planted aquariums, I made a huge mistake. I had forgotten to add the fertilizer for awhile and put a pump in my betta aquarium before leaving town for two days. I had added a pleco a week before and wow does he poop! Also had an almond leaf that needed removed, but figured could deal with detritus and water change when I got back. My water parameters had been fine the week before.Boy was I wrong.My betta had dropsy when I returned and when I tested nitrates, they were at toxic levels. I am treating him, but do not expect him to survive.So please people, be careful with this, and any other fertilizer. After this tragic lesson, I plan on testing my nitrates every time I add fertilizer, and recommend everyone else to do the same. It only takes couple minutes and is totally worth the effort.

Great product my fish tank is already cycled and having to much plants inside a fish tank will cause them to consume to much nitrate, which is a good thing. I had 5ppm of nitrate but after a week later my plants consumed all the nitrate leaving me with 0ppm of nitrate. This led to my plants to Wilt with lack of nitrate and nutrient but using this product my plants look more alive then ever. CAUTION when using this product makes sure to use half the dose. This will increase your nitrate a lot so make sure to test for nitrate each day for a week and if you have plants even better (they will consume the nitrate little by little)

Definitely brought my plants to life!

I got this fertilizer a couple of weeks ago and after about two weeks of using if (doing a water change after a week as directed) my nitrates spiked tremulously. I have the API test strips and my nitrates and nitrites were so high the color wasn’t even on the bottle. This literally happened pretty much over night and I have been battling this for about 3 weeks since. I finally realized that it was this that was causing it when I stopped using it and did a water change and started to see my levels going down slowly. I am very frustrated with this because the fertilizer works wonders for my plants and makes them grow super fast but I would have to be doing 50% water changes practically every other day just to maintain my levels. My gosh are very stressed out from this and now my plants are dying because of the low pH levels and high nitrite levels. (Plants feed off of that but too much can still be deadly for them).I could not give a bad star review simply because of how well it made my plants grow, however, if you get this please be aware of the nitrite/nitrate spikes that are going to happen!!

With a 60 gallon planted tank with gravel substrate I dose only once a week with this, 8 pumps added to the water change. This has been working well for the last few years. The only other thing I add is water conditioner to get rid of the chloramine.
