Crochet hooks.
My crochet hooks and knitting needles are in a storage unit under lots of other stuff - I wanted just one crochet hook to use to pick up stitches around a neckline in a knitted jumper. Easier to do this with a crochet hook as all the new stitches are the same size, just slide them along and when the crochet hook has a few stitches on it - pass the new stitches on to a circular knitting needle and go back to the crochet hook and carry on.I spotted these all the 12 sizes in this pack for less than £6-00. makes them 50p app each.Packed well and arrived fast - fitted through my standard letter box.Quality is good, they are nice and smooth. Feel good in the hand.I'll try and keep them in the container (which is cheap but this is one horse's mouth I am not looking into).Other reviewers mention sizing - especially one that said three of the hooks were the same size - the relevant sizes in my pack were not all the same size at all.Sizing re patterns.A lot of my patterns come from the era of the old UK sizes. All of sudden we were into metric sizes. You just don't get absolutely identical size conversions. This means my collection of crochet hooks which goes from old ones made of bone from the 1900's, wood, bamboo I find these too bendy when working fast, that funny peculiar plastic, ordinary plastic - snapped a few of those in my time, nylon and finally aluminium. I keep two knitting needle gauges - one with UK old sizes and one with Metric sizes to check the gauges. There are also the American sizes to think about now.- I learned that the gauges with holes with the UK sizes written on one side and Metric sizes written on the other don't tally best to have two gauges by me..Tension is a funny subject with me.If I am uptight or perhaps watching a thrilling or scary movie my knitting and crochet tension goes tight. I can't remember how many rows of knitting I have had to undo because of this.If I am calm and watching a romantic movie my tension goes remarkable loose. I have ended up undoing for that reason too.Knitting the continental way - you knit in the back of the knit stitch to get a twisted stitch deliberately, or you purl slightly differently so the knit stitch is on the needle to make it easy to put the needle directly in the back of the knit stitch on the next row.An Austrian girl taught me this way - it is definitely faster but I find that my knit row tension is different from my purl row doing continental stocking stitch without a twisted stitch - I can even see the stripes in different tension caused by this so sometimes I use two different sizes needles for continental stocking stitch. Knitting the standard English way I use two needles the same size.So it does not matter to me if a crochet hook is ever so slightly bigger or smaller than the millimetres it is supposed to be. WHAT DOES MATTER IS the USER getting the tension that is required for the pattern on "a" crochet hook.I have not checked these hooks with a gauge - my 2 gauges (old UK and Metric) are in storage. I do the tension sample and if it is wrong I try one size smaller or one size larger - I can swap to my old UK hooks if necessary as sometimes their sizes come between the metric sizes. So finally, these crochet hooks - they tick all the boxes for quality, pleasing colours and a nice feel to them and a decent length to hold, a cheap container but as long as it stops them getting nicks and damage to the coloured surfaces even that is ok. I definitely intend to buy another set.

Peter Pan had better watch out.......
I took a chance as there was no feedback on this product, and I'm glad that I did! I think therefore, that I am the first ever reviewer! I have been after bamboo crochet hooks for the right price for a while, and found other reviews on Amazon saying how some of the Bamboo hooks were rough and hard to use. NOT SO with these! They came the next day on Prime and I have been using them for the last few weeks with no problems. You do, however have to get used to the "feel" of them in much the same way you go from valve to transistor, vinyl to cd to mp3, etc. I have the 3.5, 4, 4.5, and 5 the most, with the 3mm for joining and weaving in ends. By the nature of the beast, the 3mm is quite thin, I could see how someone heavy handed could break it (or a child trying to dig something out of a toy), but having said that I am a MAN who enjoys crochet! Yes A MAN, imagine that! On the subject of sizes, the numbers, again due to the nature of the beast are small on the smaller sizes, but that is fine. The set comes in a no thrills plastic wallet, much like cheap art paintbrushes, but then it makes a nice starter project for the product.I decided to go for the carbonised hooks, because I originally thought they would be burnt and therefore smoother, but I believe they are heat/steam treated - either way they work fine and I have no hesitation to recommend these. It may just be emperor's new clothes but I think that I'm faster with them too!

Just the job!
I've recently taken up crocheting again and was making a project using a 4mm plastic hook I got free with a magazine, which I HATED with a passion. I was looking for a replacement hook of the same size, but ended up buying this full set instead. And I'm pleased I did! I already had some of the sizes, but this is still great value for money. The plastic organiser is handy for keeping them all in order and the size is clearly marked on the handle of each hook. They were delivered really quickly (ordered late Thursday evening, despatched Friday, arrived Saturday) so I was able to ditch that awful plastic hook and carry on with my project, which I completed much sooner than I would have done! Personally I love bamboo - it's so light and comfortable in your hand to work with. I find using metal hooks makes my hand cramp up more and I can't stand plastic. The ends of these hooks (particularly the smaller sizes) perhaps aren't quite as "pointy" as some metal hooks, which may be worth considering if your pattern is for something complicated/intricate in a light-weight yarn. However, I've been using them with both dk and chunky cotton yarn and they've been great. I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely buy again.

Love crochet, love the hook.
These bamboo crochet hooks are my first ever purchase in this material and I love them. They are very light to handle and thus beneficial to anyone who has problems using heavier crochet hooks. Whilst they are not at their smoothest from new, they do improve with use as they absorb the natural oils from the users hand and fingers and thus become steadily conditioned. As they have no metallic coating, they tend to avoid the problems associated with this type of hook which usually comes in the form of a roughness that can 'catch' the yarn as it is being worked. The 'head' of the bamboo hook is more pointed than that of its metallic counterparts and I feel that this assists in the guiding of the hook through the stitches being worked. In addition, if there is any 'snag' to the hook which might catch the yarn, it could reasonably be eradicated by judicious use of a small piece of sandpaper. With metallic hooks this would not be so easily achieved and would run the risk of ruining the overall appearance of the hook. I certainly recommend these hooks
