Best pre 97 Jeep Cherokee XJ mod you can do.
It’s a cup holder for a vehicle that doesn’t have one (it’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand), it’s amazing, drinks now stay cold instead of inner thigh temperature, no more crotch spills, or stickiness. It’s a must have for your older Jeep Cherokee XJ.

Not for a Big Gulp
It's a good product if you don't need a huge drink; coffee cups and soda cans work best. If you drive a stick shift, or work on your XJ often (if you own an XJ you surely work on it often), it can be difficult to engage the hand brake. The colour matched and it reuses the two screws that are already there, very simple to install. Overall, it's a lot better than nothing and that's something.

Finally! A solution!!
Hey XJ owners; I’ve been using the window style cup holders but they played havoc on my tint. I just retinted and was looking for a better solution so I don’t mess up the tint again. I ordered this product. It looks pretty good and holds water bottles ok. But the holders can’t be deep because of the brake so it needs a modification. Get this, plus some self adhesive weather stripping to customize the grip you want and you’ll be very happy. I had left over 1/2” x 1/2” weather striping but cut it down to about 1/2” x 1/4”. It holds my cups tightly around corners and never spills. I’ll post a picture if I can.

It's Fine, But Plan on Modifying Slightly, or as is Short Term Survivability
After a few months in the car...For $8 it is worth fiddling with but there is interference with the emergency brake and the design is somewhat poorly conceived. That said, for you creative types, this is a good basis to start from, then modify and make a better functioning holder. As others have stated, the front carve out for the ebrake handle should (and needs) to be widened as well as raised by further cutting or Dremeling (very carefully it can crack so do not recommend a hack saw blade unless you take it slow and sand)...and while that will reduce the integrity of the holder itself, you may decide it is best, especially if your ebrake has (your brakes have) not been adjusted to make contact early in the upstroke. I would have added tabs on the leading front edges as part of the injection molding process on the sides so you could secure the holder at it base to the transmission console ('96 Cherokee Sport), but you can do that with your own tabs or possibly a good adhesive tape if appearances are not a priority. To be safer, the cut out area should have a rubberized moldable rubber "bumper" installed around this edge and that can be found at any auto/hardware store.I would also reinforce the point where the two screw down points contact the glove box area with either two sided tape and/or an additional piece of plastic or metal sheeting over laid to give the holder some strength as the two screw points are insufficient for any long term durability. Lastly, less drink holder (unless you are very careful) and more where you put gum, lip gloss, keys, etc. Not bad, just imperfect.Recommended for the hobby/gearhead

Returned - barely fits, takes up a TON of room while...
Takes up a ton of room in between the seats while blocking the majority of the E-brake. Like, to the point where it's nearly impossible to deploy the e-brake, because you can't get your entire hand around it when this is installed. It sits forward at an angle that is ridiculous, while claiming to take up a "small footprint", because the "TOP" part of it is small-ish.Reality? Look at your Cherokee, open the center glove box, look down -- the two black screws that are holding the plastic on either side of the "latch" that clicks and latches the center box closed? Those will match the "tabs" in the picture. Then the "drink holder" will sit forward EIGHT INCHES over your emergency break. You will have roughly 2-3 inches left of the actual break itself, including the "button" on the end which you have to press down a full 3/4" of an inch to actually release the handle to deploy the break.Congratulations, you have officially covered and semi-permanently blocked your ability to use your emergency break in, you know, emergencies. The good news is, this is very solid ABS plastic, so --- it won't break, even if left in the boiling hot sun, in the Jeep. So, if an emergency does happen --- don't even dream of being able to snap it off to reach that E-Brake.Oy-vey, this was NOT a well designed aftermarket....Trust me, remove the lid to your glove box, take it to your shop, dremel the drink holder size you want, seal the work with liquid TPE that matches, or hot melt (or re-cover the piece in liquid rubber, for all that if you want it to look new-ish) -- and have your own custom piece. Done.

I love it
I put this in my 1986 AMC Jeep Cherokee Pioneer, I love it!! There are no cup holders in the vehicle factory, so this is definitely an improvement and it fits perfectly. If you’re someone who likes to drive crazy and skkrttt skkrrttt maybe it’s not for you because it does make it difficult to utilize the E Brake. However you could cut out the middle portion as someone else in the reviews did, and you’d still be able to use the cup holders. You could even cut the outer edges off and make it thin enough to fit in the center console if you have lost your center console lid like I did. I like it though, it improves my life just how it is.
