ABN Fire Blanket Fiberglass Welding Blanket Fireproof - 4x6 ft High Temp Insulating Welding Blanket for Smoker

I purchased this ABN fiberglass welding blanket to have an extra layer of protection when working on projects that involve heat, sparks, or welding. The 6 x 8-foot size provides a generous amount of coverage, which makes it useful for protecting nearby surfaces and equipment while I’m working. The fiberglass material feels thick and heavy duty, and I like that I can position it where I need protection rather than worrying about sparks or hot debris damaging something nearby. It’s also large enough to fold over for additional coverage in smaller areas when needed. Like most fiberglass products, I recommend handling it carefully and wearing gloves and appropriate protective gear, since the material can be irritating to bare skin. It’s definitely more of a functional shop item than something you want to handle unnecessarily. Overall, I’m pleased with the size, thickness, and protection this blanket provides. It’s a useful safety item to keep in the garage or workshop for welding and other high-temperature projects. For the price and amount of coverage, I think it’s a worthwhile addition to my shop equipment.

This welder’s blanket works great to reduce the heat from a radiator that was overheating the room it’s in when the heating system made the rest of our 1920s-era house otherwise comfortable. We’d had several HVAC techs try to adjust the radiator but were unable to reduce its heat as much as we wanted. One suggested cracking a window (a security concern, so not a good option) or using a fire-resistant blanket, and this one solved the problem, reducing the temperature by about 10 degrees. Most of the time, we use it folded in half to cover the radiator with a double layer. If we get a cold snap & need to warm the room up, we can adjust the blanket to get just the right amount of heat without turning the room into a sauna. It was a relatively affordable solution compared with downsizing the radiator. The radiator wasn’t especially attractive before it was covered, so the aesthetic impact of the cover is negligible.

I am not a welder. I bought this to cover my pellet grill when I'm cooking in cold weather. It does the job, and it is much cheaper than the grilling covers sold by the grill manufacturers.

Bought 3 of these blankets for a job at an airport. They worked well, but when I had to lay them down to cover the area where I was working over the two layers of the blanket would shift and made it difficult to walk on with out falling and when your 5 stories up on scaffolding it’s no joke.

I folded this in half and put it over my smoker as an insulator. It works great! I keep it on the smoker with 4 magnets and two carabiners (someone already posted a photo of how to do it). I own a Campchef 24SG Pro and it fits great. I live in Wisconsin and this helps the smoker retain a consistent heat and uses significantly less pellets both during the summer and the winter. I would say the reduction in pellets is at least 1/3 to a 1/2. I purchased the magnets from menards and I have not had any issues with them falling off at any cooking temp or while opening and closing the smoker door. It doesn’t look as pretty as the manufacturer blanket, but it works wonders. I highly recommend. Side not: I have also put a gasket around my lid to provide a little better seal around the door and to allow for less smoke to come out from around the door.

Works very well

Recently utilized as a spray shield for cutting bolts in a confined area. Did extremely well in shielding and hot part contact. It is relatively light and extremely pliable (i expected it to be a bit more rigid but was pleasantly surpirsed). I will be purchasing another and if you are looking for afforbale options this is it.

These are very well made welding blankets for what you are paying. Not a smoker or Traeger blanket like everyone seems to be using them for. This is to deflect sparks and some splay and deflect flame heat for brazing etc... You want to spill liquid hot magma on them and write a review and say they are horrible then your the person that can break an anvil too. For fiberglass it’s a great blanket. For serious welding sparks and flying splay I would go felt or leather and pay much more.

I just overlap over the lid during colder temperatures, it really stabilizes (evens) the heat distribution within the lid. You'll use less pellets in the winter!

Llegó rápido, buen tamaño, pero no cubre de las chispas al 100, la utilicé para cubrir piso de cerámica al momento de soldar y si hubo algunas quemaduras y manchas que se notan, tal vez si se usa doble no pase
