Comfortable, pretty and low price
This is an aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically very well designed paring knife. Comfortable to hold and use both for cutting small pieces of food as well as for coring and peeling fruit. The slight yet functional finger guard and the straight handle allow for multiple holds and easy and smooth change of holds when switching from peeling to cutting/ The blade is thin enough for easy slicing yet thick enough to press on the back of the blade without digging uncomfortably into the hand. The steel is similar to the Krupp 1.4116 stainless steel ubiquitous in lower end German kitchen knives, providing a good balance between good stain resistance, easy sharpening and good enough edge holding. The pakkawood handle has a nice dark grey color and the decorative mosaic pin in the middle is a great touch. The pakkawood is a wood stabilized with synthetic resin, so this treatment which provides good moisture resistance during use and hand washing, but it is not suitable for prolonged soaking in water, nor is dishwasher safe. It must be hand washed and preferably wiped dry after that. For the quality the price is really low. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it for average household use.

sharp but unfinished
the jury is out whether the blade will hold an edge, and how well it resharpens.i like the size and the shape of both the handle and the blade. however, the piece has rough edges all over , especially the handle, which isn't really noticable while you use it - only while you clean it or while you admire it. nevertheless, the rough edges detract from the quality and overall makes me suspicious that this knife will not stand the test of time (although i'll probably replace it with good german steel before it wears out). for now, its a good little knife for peeling and paring. I'm sure i will get my money's worh from it, and more.
