I really enjoyed this "family" fantasy tale. I use the term loosely as this is probably not for youngsters, the monsters in it are pretty scary. The characters are all very interesting, the story line is quite different, as you'd expect when Tim Burtons involved, though it's not an original idea by him but based on a book. There are some good actors on board too, obviously I can't fault Eva Green as a quintessential English lady even if she is also a Peregrine. It also doesn't take long to get into the main action and drama which I always appreciate in films and if it can keep you hooked all the way through that's a bonus. This film kept me interested throughout. Overall, a very enjoyable film.

Blackpool
I felt like this was more of a return to form for Tim Burton but it also helps having Jane Goldman on script writing duties who has been responsible for the writing behind some of the most enjoyable films I have seen over the past few years. The greatest credit though must go to the original author who has created a whole need world and mythology around these characters that seemed to have been written specifically for a Tim Burton movie. There are many recognisbale features and influences from other Tim Burton movies hidden away throughout the story but it never feels repetitive, I felt it was an enjoyable dark fantasy laced with the usual dark Tim Burton humour. Plus it's the first movie I have ever seen that has had Blackpool as a star location and somehow, they made the place look like a nice seaside town, rather than the cesspit it actually is.

Interesting romp
I enjoyed most of the film , I thought the leads Asa Butterfield (Jacob )and Ella Purnell (Emma ) had a chemistry Eva green was very good the cinemetography was fantastic but it was Bruno Delbonnel so in ver safe handsYes it was scary in parts but kids are usually watching car crash videos on You tube so , I don't think the little darlings will be to shocked by some CGIWhat I did not like Grandpa death there must have been better takes it just seemed so wooden ,the film used real locations Cornwall and the magical Torenhof Castle in Belgium looked amazing . Then for some reason it moved to Blackpool , all those scenes could have been shot anywhere , why it was snowing one would assume in High season ? it just jarred , the extras were poorly directed , it just looked a mess , I guess if you are going to use extras that somehow have to interact with what they cant see , it's going to produce dreadful results . the film was fine up to that point then it lost its way .

Another poor movie by Tim burton again.
I for life of me can't understand the high rating for this am I dumb and blind, I don't think so. This is another movie trying to cash in on the tim burton side show, since Edward scissorhands this man has not made a decent movie and that's a fact. Another movie great idea poorly executed again. Poor story bad acting bad timing cut from one scene to another felt like something's missing all acting was on a kiddy level samuel l Jackson in another poor movie. Save your money this in same league as ghost busters remake and that's saying something. Bought 3D version picture had alot of depth space looked sharp but only stand out bit was when the bomb is about to hit the place that's it such a poor film will be giving to charity.

Beautiful make up and costumes amazing visuals...
This film has a very cute beginning about a boy who has a special relationship with his grandfather. He keeps travelling back in time to the beautiful gothic children's home his grandfather grew up in in the 1940s where the other kids had magical powers and they were taught by a mysterious and beautiful governess. I lost the plot a bit later. I just remember seeing a lot of monsters suddenly starting to appear and there's a lot of fighting. Some of the kids start to fall in love with each other too. There are a lot of scary monsters so very young children will find this film scary, and there's a lot of shooting with bows and arrows too. But the make up and costumes are very beautiful and the visuals are amazing.

Spooky special treat ( bit gory in parts maybe for some !?)
My 11 year old loved it-usuallyv cynical. Jackson a glorious and as expected amusing villian. Children actors are outstanding in looks and credibility. Prosthetics and effects dazzling. The scene at the pier went a bit lear shaped for me but it's the spooky fear factor that got us hooked and what if the kids special powers were possible - great discussions on being different or being special and what extra unique talent would you fancy having ?!

A film where the plot loses the plot.
What a peculiar film!Really. What on earth is going on?Much as its fantasy mixed with reality story line has it endearing characteristics, its pace and development is awful.I mean, what was the point of it all?Interesting people and their oddities were portrayed in a rather 2D manner. The story was so convaluted I had no idea where I was in the film. The plot lost the plot. However, It is a well photographed subject matter and production design is very worthy. Costume design was top notch and creature effects were fabulous. The script was so so. Dialogue did lead the viewer into wanting to know where this story was heading to, as it should. But, it lead nowhere...Film left me rather bored. But then it is probably aimed at a very young audience.

Love Eva Green and she is fantastic in this
Love Eva Green and she is fantastic in this. Im a big fan of anything to do with super heros and magic powers etc but this just did not quite make it. It constantly felt like something big was going to happen, especially with Samuel L Jackson as the bad guy, but it never quite happened. Good film, could have been great
