The quality is great, but I expected them to be larger. My toddler likes to build large houses and I feel like two bases are not enough; even for the builds in the books. Otherwise they are great for keeping toddler builds stable so independent play doesn’t end up in a meltdown when builds collapse so it’s a great investment. (They are on the pricy side but I wanted magnets that were strong and compatible with the ones my toddler already owns)

CONNETIX Rainbow Base Plate Pack, 2 Pieces My grandchildren range in age from 18 months to 12 years old. They all love working with magnetic tiles in many different ways. However, building structures on carpeting or uneven floors can be challenging. Too often their creations would topple or fall over. Using base plates is a great way to support the tiles in those instance. Base plates can also be used to provide spatial information when assembling a structure or to limit a structure to a predetermined size. Of course, they can also be integrated right into a builder’s design. While the Connetix brand bases are more expensive than others, they are consistently stronger and more durable. In one of my photos, you can see where I placed a dozen heavy metal rings onto one of the approximately 12”X12” plates. When standing the base up and also holding it upside down, the rings stayed perfectly in place. If you are exploring base plates, you probably already have a collection of tiles and know how much fun children can have creating with them. At the same time that they are playing and exploring creatively, children are actually building their skills in several cognitive areas. There is a delightful booklet included with the plates that includes examples of those skills and photos of different structures. I was impressed by how well the base plates were packaged and protected making them easy to store as well as gift wrap. This is a product that can be enjoyed by children of all ages, but needs to be supervised with younger ones because of the safety issues surrounding magnets.

My little ones really love magnetic tiles. These are huge bases that help to encourage them to build fun cities and buildings. The magnets stick well and these pair wonderfully with our other magnetic tiles. Awesome buy!

I ordered this 2 pack of Connetix rainbow base plates to add to our magnetic tile collection. We have several different brands of magnetic tiles and all worked well with these base plates. These plates are HUGE! They provide a sturdy base for bigger builds, help get walls up faster making it easier for younger children to quickly create and frees up smaller tiles that would otherwise have been used for the base. My one minor complaint is that each base contains so many magnets they really stick together and young children will have difficulty pulling them apart. Overall though, these base plates are well constructed with strong magnets, and are a unique and fun addition to our magnetic tile collection.

The magnets in the base plates are very strong. That makes it great to keep the smaller tiles in place when building a structure. If you put the two base plates near each other they will slam together with great force. I have adult strength and fingers and it bruised my finger that got caught between them. I'm going to keep the two base plates completely separated from each other and that will solve that problem. The base plates are really big compared to the normal size tiles. It makes a great base for building with as many tiles as you can afford. Lots of fun!

These bases are such a wonderful addition to magnet tile play. They work seamlessly with the major brand tiles and have strong magnets and great quality. My child used to get so frustrated building with magnets on the carpet because the uneven surface often made it hard to balance a structure. With one of these bases underneath, their creations instantly have support and can also be moved around easily. The green and blue are both vibrant primary colors and it’s nice to get two bases either for more expansive play or for easy sharing if you have more than one child. We have been playing with these daily with our four year old and they would make a great gift anytime you’re gifting the base set of tiles.

In the pic it is the blue and orange base. They are large and strong, roughly 16 of the small squares. So it saves for more building. However 55$ seems pretty $$$ for 2 items. I would get more, but not for that price. Maybe 4 for 45 would be more appropriate.
