Your Doodle & You: A Guide to Breed Info, Basic Care & Training

I bought this book simply because I bought two golden doodle puppies. I’m giving the book 4 stars because it short, sweet and not loaded w/excess, unimportant information. If you’ve never had a puppy in your life or want a brief refresher this is a good book. There are some pages of breed specific information however it’s pretty broad. Being a book on Goldendoodles I’d have liked more pictures and more info on grooming. Again, it is a great beginner book. Worth the small amount of money you pay.

Your Doodle and You is an excellent resource for all families adding a new puppy to their home. It covers all the bases from the beginning. Like Training your puppy begins the minute you leave the breeder's home. In other words, if you allow the puppy to do what you think are "cute" at this age, you are actually training them to do those things. Attitude - yours should stay positive. Potty outings vs fun play time. Leaving a puppy in a crate all day will result in an unhappy dog and unhappy owner. What are normal puppy behaviors - most families don't know. Exposure to disease vs the importance of socialization. What are "Fear Stages" and what to do about them. Dealing with proper supervision of a child and a puppy. Places to document all important information about your new family member. And much, much more! Just a wonderful resource!

This is a lovely little book chock full of good info about Doodles. As a family anticipating the arrival of our Doodle, we found this cute little book particularly helpful. It has info you can find elsewhere, but it's great to have the important points in one location. It gives a brief history of the "breed," and then gets down to brass tacks about the essentials that a new Doodle family needs to know. If you have a Doodle or are considering a Doodle dog, this is a book you want.

I bought two copies of this book, one for myself and one to gift a neighbor who just brought home an Australian labradoodle pup and has a zillion questions about how to care for her new pup. The book is concise, well organized and very easy to read and reference. This book should be part of every new labradoodle owner’s starter kit.

Very good book, well written and informative. Takes you through every aspect of feeding, training and socializing your puppy. Great tips for anyone thinking of getting a puppy. Even has a whole chapter on your puppy and kids.

Good informative book. I’m a first time puppy owner so found this book extremely helpful in the process. Although information on breed specific in minimal I would still purchase again.

Most of this information is freely available on various breeders' websites.

Very good beginners book. Easy read with good basic info for new puppy parents. I will recommend for my clients.
