For this price, good luck finding a better quality dive watch anywhere!
If you haven’t heard of Vaer, do yourself a favor and do some research. What they are doing right now is making some of the best dive and field watches for the price point you can buy. This DS4 is a perfect example of their craftsmanship in a no frills package. Classic dive style, with 200m water resistance, screw down crown and caseback, and with a sapphire crystal (good luck finding that at this price). The bezel action is crisp, indices all line up perfectly, the dial has a beautiful sunburst effect and with solar movement, it’s set and forget. The FKM rubber tropic strap is excellent quality, super pliable, and you get an extra nylon strap. The straps being quick change means you can add any strap you want easily. For this price, good luck finding a better dive watch anywhere! The two founders of Vaer are very involved in all facets of their operation and design and are doing some great work right now. This isn’t some big corporation pumping out mass produced pieces. This is a small operation making some great watches at reasonable prices you’d be hard pressed to find somewhere else. If you’re at all concerned about the origins of this watch, don’t be. The movement, the finishing, everything about this watch is top notch in every way. The Horween leather strap in the picture is from Vaer and is beautiful! The ridged FKM rubber strap is from StrapHabit, another small business doing top quality work.

Vaer for the win, my new favorite watch!
The Vaer DS4 Meridian Solar Dive Watch is stunning! The 42mm is perfect for my 7.5" wrist. The details are what really set it apart from other watches. In hand you first notice the solid feel and weight. The Anti-Reflective coating on the Sapphire Crystal show the depth of the dial and dimension of the applied indices. The aluminum bezel insert has a nice matte finish that doesn't leave fingerprints. The easy to grip bezel makes a satisfying 120 clicks as it smoothly ratchets around the dial. The solar panel dial has a subtle sunburst effect. Lume on this watch is amazing! In my photo it looks blue but in person it appears green. The twisted lyre lugs are brushed on the sides and polished on the top. Vaer is signed on the crown and buckle. Two comfortable high quality 20mm bands are included and have quick release spring bars that don't require a spring bar tool. My photos feature the Tropic strap. 200m water resistance and solar powered, this is an exceptional value. You won't be disappointed. This is my new favorite watch!

Fantastic solar powered diving watch with great specs for a great price
This is a great entry level diving watch from a great US based watch company. Vaer is a popular upstart micro-brand with several very cool watches. This DS4 Solar is one of their more affordable diving watches but for me has been a great introduction to the brand. Features I love include: - it has a bery reliable movement with a Solar battery, - it has a durable flat sapphire crystal, - it has a very legible watch face enclosed in a 42mm case that works well if you have larger than average wrists (I have 712-8 inch wrists wrists) - It includes 2 watch straps (one rubber and one cloth) - It has great lume for seeing intge dark - The watch price is great for the included feature set. *The DS4 Solar is normally around $300 but can often be found on sale for less than that on Amazon which in my opinion was quite a deal The only complaints that I have is the watch dial could be a little bit more colorful…if they added one or two stronger accent colors to the indices or the dial face it would really increase the aesthetic value of the DS4 Solar. Also the included straps are adequate however I like a little bit nicer one included. I purchased an upgraded chain link bracelet from the Vaer website for $120. I put it on to give this watch a little more of a classy look as you can see in tge pictures. I like this watch I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great starter watch, especially if they were interested in seeing how they liked the Vaer brand. This is an excellent Go Anywhere Do Anything (GADA) watch.

Great everyday watch.
This was marketed as a great every day watch, and it certainly is. I have other watches from Breitling, Omega, Rolex that I wear quite often. You know what the difference between those three watches and this Vaer is? I can wear the Vaer anywhere I want without worries. Truly an every day watch. In the ocean, boating, driving, high altitude, camping. It's accurate, looks great, comfortable. It was marketed as an everyday watch, and so far it is incredibly true to the name. I submerged to about 98feet with the watch on, ZERO issues, great visibility. Beat up in the trade wind surf at Magics on the BI, no problem. Only took it off to shower, didn't even take it off when I got out of the ocean to rinse it off in potable water. Heck, the following week I was at 15.5k ASL in an unpressurized cabin. Watch was just fine. My ONLY complaint is the NATO strap took a little bit of wearing in and out of water to make the back more pliable. I can totally live with that.

Best bang for your buck out there :)!!
My 2nd Vaer - bought the first one from Vaers website bought this one from Amazon. I wanted it for the weekend and vaers website couldn’t guarantee it- I hope they didn’t lose too much to Amazon on the sale . I bough the 42 mm which also has the date ( the 38mm doesn’t ) a great size for my 7 1/2 inch wrist . I also have the D4 meridian in navy with a couple of extra straps ( great value on Vaer $20 !) A very high quality robust sharp looking watch - very very happy with it - I love the ability to swap out straps - my only ( very mild ) gripe is that the premium steel bracelet for the 38mm doesn’t fit my new 42 mm ( obviously !;) Found a nice quick release strap here and it’s perfectly suitable I honestly don’t think there’s a better value out there .. Well done Vaer

A terrific dive solar watch
This is my third VAER watch; my other two are USA assembly automatic watches. All three are great timekeeping pieces. I wanted the benefits of a quartz watch without the drawback of having to replace the battery every few years. VAER's DS4 dive watch was the answer. As with all quartz watches, timekeeping is superb. But the watch simply looks great on my wrist. The standard quick release tropic strap is comfortable and durable (I've used one for over a year with my other VAER watches.) VAER delivers impressive watches at reasonable prices; but don't let the price fool you. These watches are built to last and keep their beauty for years to come. Yes, you could spend a lot more in a similar watch but you would not get the satisfaction that you got your money's worth. VAER is always a sure bet.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised
If you purchase a Vaer watch you’ll be pleasantly surprised. At the quality and value you can get. The Vaer DS4 Meridian Solar Dive Watch is their entry level dive watch. Vaer has three level of watches. There entry level with a Variety of high quality quartz movements. There medium level with a top of the lines Miyota automatic 9000 series movements. And there highest level with Swiss automatic movements. I purchased a D4 Atlantic - USA Solar 38mm when it first came out. Which means it was assembled in the United States. So it cost a little more than this one. I was so impressed it became my favorite watch. Later when Vaer introduced the Meridian 39mm Swiss GMT. I purchased one. And it became my first luxury watch and most favorite. One of the best features of this watch is the Lyre Lugs. They have a very aesthetically pleasing look. That looks great with straps. But even better with a bracelet. Vaer offers two levels of bracelets a standard bracelet and two premium stile bracelets. In my photos you can see how the bracelets can really enhance the aesthetics of this watch. The tolerance is tight and a little tricky to install. But with patients and practice. You’ll get the Spring bars properly installed. and be rewarded with a watch that looks fantastic on your wrist.

A decent watch, but not without flaws….
Watch arrived on time and decently packaged by Amazon. My first impressions of the watch is that it is your standard diver that resembles a well known and much more expensive dive watch. Watch does not have much heft but seems to be finished well with some polished and brushed areas. Crown is stiff when you screw it in and out and with some sharp edges. Bezel has audible clicks but feels cheap and has some minor play. Also think the aluminum bezel ring looks cheap. Case back is finished nice. Comes with two straps, the rubber tropical is mounted and is just a basic rubber strap. Other is a tan 2 piece nylon which in my opinion would not look right on this watch. 20 mm lug width so plenty of options out there. Biggest plus for this watch is it is solar powered, so no battery changes and has a decent quartz movement so should be plenty accurate. Overall makes a decent beater, but is pricey for what it is. I have owned multiple divers through the years and have seen better and worse. I honestly have a couple of Casio Duro that seem to be better fit and finished than this watch. It puts me in the mind of the cheap model Invicta diver to be honest. After wearing a day or so decided to keep it and plan on putting it on a bracelet ordered from Vaer, but I seriously doubt that I would ever purchase another watch of this brand.
