With lower price makes total sense!
It use to cost double that. At this current price, it's a not-brainer and really improves the Apollo performance. I had the firewire version, many dropouts. Since moving to the TB version, super smooth.

Works Fine with Apollo 16 Silverface
Bought an Apollo 16 in the first months it was released. It didn't come with a TB card. Firewire only.Only a few months after that, UA started shipping the Apollos stock with the TB installed already. They made the TB cards available to us early adopters, but wanted $500 for them! So, if you waited to buy an Apollo, you were golden connection-wise. While us "trusting of UA" early adopters had to shell out another chunk of cash just to get what new customers got included with their Apollo.Raw deal. And, I refused to pay for that $500 card. I didn't "need" it at the time, so was happy not to give UA more money for trusting they do the right thing but didn't. Principle matters. Then, while researching newer sound cards, I found this TB3 card compatible with even the first run Apollo 16s - for a more reasonable $200.I sprang for it, and, it works fine. Just had to update the firmware on the Apollo and voila'.What's interesting, is with this version of the TB card, you can choose to downgrade back to Firewire if you want/need to. That's HUGE.Now I can switch back to Firewire if I want to use my old system, which has a lot of material on it using plugins and other code that never made it to my current system. Software goes away folks - hardware is still king.Anyway, yeh, this one is a worthwhile investment. I don't need and can't afford the latest Apollo 16s, so having my Silverface Apollo 16 to use with both older and newer systems is pretty handy. Some ears get wiggy with the earlier Apollos, they split hairs and talk like you can't cut a record nor mix with them they're so bad.Hogwash. The Silverface Apollos, especially the 16 with it's higher grade converter chips than the rest of the Apollo line of the era, is not going to be why you can't make outstanding sounding recordings. No.So, no brainer this card, extending the life of your Silverface Apollo full on into your current rig.Props to UA for getting this to us for a reasonable price... later is better than never in this case.

Works as advertised and allowed me to connect my new Mac Studio M2 with my older UA Apollo Firewire Silverface! Highly recommended.
