Gold Glaze for Ceramic Pottery Bisque,PCG01,16fl oz/473ml

Had been trying to find a gold glaze that is affordable and glad to come across this. It requires careful application but very good result on stoneware and holds well in firing. The colour is interesting, not very bright and more a very dark gold but still beautiful nevertheless. Shall be back for more.

Worked well for me! I've only tried it on a small section and applied a thick coating as recommended but I really like the colour 🌟

Crap! Waste of money. Firstly impossible to mix, impossible to apply and once applied flaking like crazy.

Overview: The piece I applied this to was VERY fiddly. I am fairly sure it had at least 4 coats on the main body, but it's come out brown. Because the piece is round, it was quite difficult to note where I had started/ finished the last coat. I also have a rubbish visual memory so couldn't recall where I had started each time! There was no distinction in the colour between coats, probably particularly as it's a dark brown going on and because it was the inside of the piece I was doing, which was also awkward and restrictive. Those are user error factors, rather than the glaze. It was nice to apply, but the brush got quite sticky regularly, so needed to keep it rinsed out so as not to end up with dry glaze going on and dragging. At the junctions of internal corners, the potential gold lustre is evident, which tells me that on a more simple piece, where application is straightforward, you could get a really lovely finish with this, but I just haven’t achieved it with this one. I'm going to try a different piece next, to see if I get the results I hope for, and I'll update the rating at that point. At this price point, I think it's definitely worth a try. It's cheaper than lustre and the additional firing cost, even if you require several coats. I used it on buff stoneware fired to 1250°C.

Big problems with pitting and can’t work out why. Did a standard stoneware glaze to 1220 and one (vertical) piece pitted whilst a flat piece worked well with a lovely gold finish. Altered next firing to a slower ramp up to 1240 with a soak at the end as that seemed to be the general advice to avoid pitting but that was even worse on a mug handle - I also tried reglazing the first piece but it just got worse. Had concluded I might have applied too thickly as it is difficult to monitor on a handle but everyone else is saying it doesn’t go gold if it isn’t thick! Shame as when it works it’s lovely but now not sure whether to risk it on Christmas ornaments. Maybe it’s just the kiln gods having a bad day - I’ll keep trying!

I use earthenware so low fibre and this come out as metallic pewter. Still like it but not gold. Thjnk it needs a stoneware firing yo be more gold.

Fantastic 🤩 so happy with the turn out & can’t wait to get more as I’m getting asked if they could also use it. But I’m keeping it close to me as for some reason I can’t get anymore😔🤔 I wonder why.

The glaze arrived settled and lumpy/gritty and required a lot of work including sieving before use. At this price I expected better quality ex factory. However it is a really good shiny gold if fired to Cone 6.

I'm happy with this gold glaze. After applying four coats, the finish came out beautifully vibrant. It has a true gold tone, not too yellow or brassy and gives a luxurious, metallic sheen that's perfect for accent work or full coverage. The consistency was smooth and easy to apply in layers, and it fired evenly with excellent results. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a deep, authentic gold finish on your ceramics.

私の場合、4回塗って1230度で焼いたが、こんな明るい金色にはならなかった。もう少し暗い、アンティークな感じの金色。あと重ねる分よく流れるから注意が必要。

The the gold metallic end result of this glaze is beautiful after it has been fired. Application is a bit tricky. It is extremely dry when applying this glaze to bisque-ware. The dried glaze wants to flake off. It seems to need more xanthan gum to allow it to flow. I definitely use this glaze in my work, it just takes longer to apply than most other glazes
