If you mean does it beep when the coffee is done brewing. No, it does not. Is it an alarm clock? No, it is not. You can set the coffee to brew at a certain time. That good smell would wake me up! Hope this helps.

can i use paper filters in this if i want to?

Great buy little pricey but Love my retro pink coffee pot good size makes good coffee keeps coffee hot there is no window to see the borderline but you can measure it out in the carafe I also have the pink retro toaster and a pink retro microwave I love them all next purchase the pink retro can opener If the craft breaks the only place you could buy replacement is on Amazon that I can find and a replacement craft is a little pricey
