for the price, it does its job well. although the size was a little smaller than I expected but that was likely an oversight on my end.

I’m an old school draftsman. Very familiar with these sharpeners. I don’t know how to accurately describe what it’s doing but I’m getting uneven sharpens, like the lead is not centered in the tumbler. I have to really baby it to not break the lead. Mechanism is a little sticky. I know what you’re thinking - there is no broken lead fragments in it. Many years of drafting and I’ve never had so much issue with sharpening a pencil.

I saw the reviews of this saying that it can break the lead. It can for sure. I've found that with sharpening a brand new lead, you have to go very gently and not put too much pressure on it. I also saw an improvement in how it rotates after taking some of the graphite powder and used it as a lubricant. Now it rotates very smoothly and the leads come out super pointy and sharp. Great for fine line drawing! It takes a little practice getting used to it - but its worth the money. Its also very easy to travel with - its much smaller in real life.

The seller experience was fine, but the lead sharpener doesn't work. Contacted Pacific Arc with no satisfaction. Bought different brand that actually sharpens the lead.

This was not a very good tool to use. I have to extend the lead to long to sharpen it. If your not careful you wind up breaking the lead, which is more times then any.

First of all, this is not a Staedtler lead pointer. As you can see in the picture, it is made by Pacific Arc, a Texas based company. As a lead pointer, it is perfectly useless. Perhaps I just had a defective product, but I went through about 12 inches of lead trying to get a point on it and either got a mangled mess or a snapped lead.On the other hand, the company was very nice and efficient. I received the item promptly and it came well packaged. When I complained to customer service about the item, they were friendly and nice and promptly refunded my money, even though it wasn't in their policy to do so. It could very well be a good company/bad supplier situation, so give Art Affinity a shot next time you're buying art supplies, just avoid their Pacific Arc stuff.
