Review of Chromecast on Google TV
Chromecast 2020 is the 5th generation of devices today. Google TV has some differences compared to Android TV that come with some benefits. The entire body is streamlined, made of matte plastic. It is pleasant to the touch and does not accumulate fingerprints. Available on the market in 3 colors: white, blue and pink. It has a monolithic HDMI cable, the length of which is 5 cm, excluding the input. The power connector is in USB Type-C format. There is also an LED on the case and a button to reset the set-top box to the state from the factory. Chromecast does not support Ethernet connection. Only Wi-Fi (with excellent parameters). Optionally, you can buy a power supply unit with a LAN connector for cable connection. Remote controller The remote control is very compact with a small number of keys on the front panel. Only 9 main buttons + joystick. What's interesting are the shortcut keys for YouTube and Netflix, as well as the Google Assistant. The rest of the keys are already familiar and do not need to be presented. To change the volume level, there is a knob on the side panel, similar to smartphones. Accessories The most important thing that is in this model: Chipset - Amlogic S905D3G. It is known for good stability and relatively low thermal output. At the same time, it has 4 Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.9 GHz and a Mali-G31 MP2 graphics core at 850 MHz. For 4k processing, this is enough. Memory. RAM 2 GB, a little, but the device is enough. Built-in memory is 8 GB, but the Google TV system takes up half of it. Software Google TV is practically no different from the familiar to many Android. The only difference is the use of the new launcher. To be honest, this is even good, because on the new console you can put almost any application that you can imagine. Notable differences between Google TV and Android TV: More featured content. It occupies a significant part of the main screen, taking away some of the space from the list of pre-installed applications. Google Play is on a separate menu tab. There is no need to enter the application itself, since the main services and catalog search are available from the main menu. Advanced search. Under it, a whole tab was allocated. Popular queries are immediately displayed here, and it is also possible to sort everything by genre. Library. In addition to purchased content, you can store movies here, as in favorites. Setting. It happens extremely simply and quickly through the Google Home smart home application. You need to scan a QR code, the rest of the procedure is almost completely automated. Content broadcast. One of the main reasons for buying a device. There is nothing special here, the function works and does not raise additional questions. Supports streaming from a smartphone, tablet, etc. through various applications. You can use Android TV Remote Control to set up the media player. Allows you to almost completely replace the standard remote control. It's just convenient, and in case of loss or breakage is very useful. Excellent image quality. 4k at 60 fps is a excellent result for such a small device. The player also supports Dolby Vision and modern versions of HDR: HDR10, HDR10+. Deep sound. Support for Dolby Digital, DD + and Dolby Atmos affected the sound quality for the better. Movies are fun to watch. Performance. Even large films from the Internet or a local network pull perfectly, without hitches and long buffering. True, for this you need a good video player (for example, Vimu). The interface itself is nimble, responsive and smooth. Working with streaming platforms Video from YouTube and Netflix pulls and does not create a feeling of thoughtfulness of the set-top box at any resolution. The launch of the application itself takes 2-3 seconds. Application installation. They can be quickly installed from the Play Market, but there is also support for apk applications. This requires only the presence of an apk file and a file manager (for example, X plore).

I wholeheartedly recommend the Chromecast with Google TV for those seeking a reliable and feature-packed streaming solution.

Everything you can expect
I haven’t had the Chromecast for long, but I can already tell it’ll be worth it. I am exclusively using it at home on my dysfunctional “smart” TV, of course as a replacement for the $12 a month cable box. I can tell that Google partially targeted the cable-cutter audience with the live news suggestions and “Google TV” stuff, but I found myself happy with just Youtube itself. No more playing silly games with the cable company and paying monthly bills for something that practically only apply to one device in the household. Although Youtube Premium is somewhat pricey as a subscription, you’re paying for a service that applies to every device. Multiple phones, tvs, computers, you name it. And no ads. You’re not paying a monthly fee for a box that force-feeds you advertisements on one television. Everything about this device drew me in and I don’t regret it. The voice recognition is surpisingly disappointing, but considering how fast you can navigate the menus with the cool little remote, it’s a non-factor. As a tech-savvy guy I’m impressed with how such a small device can process all these inputs and stream all this data so quickly without becoming red hot. My older mother even finds it easy to use. Also (and this is kind of a personal dig at my old cable company), it doesnt need to update literally every night. Chromecast definitely accomplishes what I expect and need it to. I will not be going back.

Totally worth upgrading to this
I was a long time user of the original chrome cast and decided it was finally time to see what was out there in terms of upgrading. Boy am I glad I did. Not only is the response time faster, picture quality impressive (4K), it even has voice recognition and can find what you ask for by searching all the apps you have installed. There is a little bit of setup involved to get all your on demand video apps passwords entered and setup, but once you do, you’re good to go. It has profiles for multiple users and it’s simple to use without having to configure a bunch of things (except initial setup). My biggest gripe with this is that sometimes I accidentally hit buttons on the remote which will stop what I’m watching and launch something else and there is no quick easy way (that I know of yet) to get back to what I was watching. I have to navigate back to the app and what I was watching and then it will resume from where I was. It would be nice if it had a swap button so you can watch one app, swap to another, then swap back to where you were and resume where you left off. Maybe that will come eventually, who knows, but I have learned to just keep my hands off as much as I can when watching something. It usually happens when watching YouTube because I frequently hold the remote to skip commercials and that’s when I accidentally hit the Netflix button or something else, but with YouTube there is a dedicated button there so I can get back to that quickly. The problem arises when watching Hulu or Vudu or some other app. That being said, I still love it and I’m glad to finally have a smart tv without having it built into the tv (although my tv does have built in apps but updates were recently discontinued and I can no longer use the native smart tv apps but that’s another story for another time). In the meantime, there’s google tv with chrome cast. It gets 10 thumbs up from me and four other people.

High highs and low lows.
This thing is excellent. This thing sucks. As a video device, it works wonders. As a product from Google, it suffers horribly. First-world problems? Yes, absolutely. I live in a first-world country so it won't get a pass. Parental controls, specifically time limits, pick and choose when to work. Worse, it doesn't integrate into Family Link (Google's Parental Control app for Android devices). You can see what a child is using but not limit it. One does not know how much time was used on another, so switching TVs is a viable workaround. Our primary app, YouTube, will log out our child randomly. This is a minor inconvenience that happens only to my child's account. Our secondary app, Crunchyroll, is terrible. This is likely Crunchyroll's fault, but the apps only seem to have issues on this device, not on something like one of a thousand possible Android phones. Google oversees Android and the Play Store, so, at a bare minimum, their apps should work properly and consistently across devices. The device lets you put all sorts of apps on it, though many do not work, and there isn't enough storage for any of the 'supported' games. It seems to be getting active development. Recently, free channels were added, though I haven't tried them. I love my Chromecast with Google TV, but Google is a trillion-dollar company, and it feels like no part of Google works with any other when they develop products. The UI wants to remind me of every show I've ever watched, regardless if I tell it I finished it or removed it. Is this an app problem or an OS problem? I don't know. I had to switch my profile to Apps-only mode. Also, I don't need content recommendations, and I don't want advertisements. I pay Google enough money now that I shouldn't have more junk thrown in my face. Google voice recognition has become atrocious across all their devices. Phones, Hubs, Homes, TV. They need to unify it and make it stable. Overall, this is a massive improvement over the original Chromecasts and keeps that functionality, which I love. But it is 100% a first-gen Google product. I do not look forward to replacing these with an upgraded version, but I probably will. It sure beats using a game console, minus the lack of a disk drive, but at even this higher price point, it's a fair trade-off.

One of the Best Devices for Streaming
I do recommend this device. I was using my Xbox for TV viewing for years. There were a few issues, but the Xbox is very much overbuilt for just watching TV, so things went generally smoothly. Previously, quite a few years ago, I used an Amazon fire device. That device just got slower and slower until I got so frustrated I threw it away. Had about four Rokus, same deal - just like the Fire cube, the Rokus seem to get their brains full and they start to act like they're reacting to everything in slow motion. You get what you pay for, I guess, and the Xbox was the greatest solution for a long time. I do recommend using an Xbox, except setup is typical Microsoft, very confusing and management is aggravating, as you have to decide on "plans" to pay Microsoft in various ways. Now I have this. I got it because I had one in the bedroom. The NUMBER ONE best thing about this device, after confirming it is NOT a piece of junk (in the bedroom there have been no slowing down over time issues at all), the thing my Xbox did TERRIBLY, was the content and design of the home page. I'm currently watching a free movie I had NO IDEA was available. It was easy to find on the Chromecast home page, which shows you lots of great content (UNLIKE the Xbox, which is NOT helpful in ANY way with it's after-thought-inspired home page. The other thing, the actual motivation for me to ditch the Xbox for the Chromecast, is that you can not get the Roku Channel on Microsoft devices. I'm glad to be off the Xbox, and might end up selling it. The remote control is great - it's sensitive and every button press works, even with obstructions. I highly recommend this device, as well as setting up the Roku Channel (TRC) when you get it. You may find you can cancel three or four other channels and watch even better stuff on the Roku channel for free. The content is quite excellent, and you can find shows like "Pawn Stars" that are simply not otherwise available, or cost money ... but on TRC they are free. Best wishes and happy TVing!

Excellent Device
We Love this device. It is super easy to install and the app bundling is outstanding. You can customize it to show you what you watch most frequently, your favorite shows, custom menus, etc. Its a ton cheaper than buying a new smart tv. Just plug it into any available HDMI port on your existing tv and wa-la, you get it all. AND, you can move it from TV to TV, even better! Also, this is an android driven device, so it runs Android TV. Plus it is 4K ready.... but that means you need a newer TV that is 4K capable. We have 4 older smart tv's and the apps built in just don't update anymore or are no longer supported and deleted, the TV manufacturers want you to toss those TV's and buy a new one. Yet my picture and sounds quality is as good as the day I bought them.. So, this is an excellent alternative!!!

Streaming Simplified with 4K Quality
The Google Chromecast with Google TV (4K) brings all my streaming needs together in one slick, easy-to-use device. Setting it up was a breeze; it connected right to my Wi-Fi, and with the voice search, I don’t have to dig through endless menus to find what I want. The 4K HDR picture quality is excellent, with vivid colors and clear resolution, which is impressive for such a compact streaming stick. Navigating between apps is smooth, and I love that Google TV’s interface recommends shows across platforms, making it easy to discover new content. The remote is compact but intuitive, and the voice control is responsive – asking for shows, specific genres, or even actors pulls up exactly what I need in seconds. However, I wish it had more customization options for the home screen layout, as it can feel a bit cluttered with recommendations. For the price, the Chromecast with Google TV delivers excellent value, providing a seamless, high-quality streaming experience in 4K with the added convenience of a robust voice search. It’s definitely a worthwhile addition for any streaming enthusiast!

Great
Great item for a rather low price for a product from Google. It does lag a bit sometimes, but its not too noticable.

Excelente producto!!!
